Please be reminded that the views & opinions that we expressed in all our e-mails are merely communicatory - in order to have a diversified topics. This way our communication with everyone won't be monotonous, and will keep BWHS65 alive. The expression of our views and opinions are not meant to offend anyone and/or to boast ourselves. Our intentions are to share with you our knowledge, expertise and experiences, and about our family, which we think might be of importance to you. Please pick-up those you think will be relevant to you, and garbage those that you considered wasteful. However, I encourage that we prioritize our Grand Reunion in as much as the date that we suggested, Dec. 22, 2007, is fast approaching. I suggest that we focus on the things that will make our reunion a success. Ray & Manolo, thank you both for your recent e-mails, which are, investment wise, very interesting. Since all of us are already heading for retirement, by this time, we already thought and planned of what we are going to pursue when that time comes. I admired both that you will engage with your own businesses, especially Ray who's going to concentrate in his construction company. I am encouraging both to volunteer as one of our speakers during our reunion to share to our batchmates, especially to those who don't have access to the internet, what you have shared to us through your e-mails. On my part, if you may ask, my wife and I will just spend the rest of our life with a simple retirement - away from any stress and pressures. With the pensions that we are going to receive from the Social Security (both from the Phils & US), and from the pension that I am going to receive from the State of Illinois four (4) years from now, I think, is more than enough to satisfactorily enjoy our retirement. We believe that after so many years of hard work we deserves a stress/pressure-free retirement. As you know, I started working at an early age (17 yrs old) to support my studies because of our poverty. With God's guidance and with our perseverance, we were able to lead our children to a fruitful path. As I had narrated in my previous e-mail entitled "Once upon a time in BWHS-Part 2, which were sent before I knew some of our batchmates' e-mail addresses - our children graduated from their chosen careers. My eldest son is a CPA, and is now connected with Delliotte & Touche, CPAs. My second son is a Physical Therapist. My third son, Alvin, though still undergraduate, is taking up a short course in the medical field, LPN. Alvin followed my footstep - he married at an early age. My youngest and only daughter is a Registered Nurse. My wife & I thought that their education is the best legacy that we gave to them, which is more than any material things.

Dear Poling & Vida and all

Hi there! Pero sa important sector like economy, last tayo among asian countries.

I will be retiring from the bank service (PNB) this coming October 20, 2007 having completed my 35 years of service. The good news, mayroon ako na kaunting retirement pay, the bad news, wala na akong trabaho. Actually, I am looking forward into putting up a business. My first option is to engage in remittance business but I need coordinators or partner/s abroad ( U.S.A. or even in Europe). My next option is to open a restaurant and grilled chicken as my specialty. I got this concept of special grilled chicken when I was assigned in Jeddah and Dubai for ten years. Nag manager kasi ako sa PNB Jeddah and Dubai.

Yolanda de Castro is staying in Ohio and I saw her when I visited my brothers in Elyria, Ohio, 6 years ago. Yoly and her husband are both retired but enjoying their stay since their children are all grown -up and with stable jobs.

Hope to see you all in our grand reunion. Best regards.

I'm Beatles fanatic and keeping the album I bought in UK when I was cross posted in Shell Aberdeen, of the group entitled "The Complete Story of the Beatles" in still tape format, isama natin ang the best ng Peter and Gordon, Gary Lewis and the Playboy, The Animals, Cliff Richard, Elvis Presley, Teddy Randazzo, at siyempre ang bakya crowd na the one and only Fred Panopio (Pitong Gatang)...Ang gugurang na natin ano? I hope this coming reunion be a successful one kasi most of us are approaching caliber 60 kaya dapat umatend lahat or even 75% of the population. Last year reunion ay sad to say na quite dry that I almost give up or quit the event. I want to see and meet you "people". See you all soon.

Hi Ray!

Ang ganitong personality ng isang tao (I don't know if our Psychiatrists, Imelda & Nani, will agree) ay may itinatagong katangian. Siya ay naninirahan sa ibang bansa , sa ............................Mga kamag-aral. isa sa mga hint - the first letter of her name start with a letter that can also be found on the name of the State where she presently lives. Tama ba or mali?

This kind of issue is being brought out to break the monotony of our lives. Eka nga - we need diversity.

Tony, I always enjoy your emails, okay lang kahit mahaba. Let us just take care of our health and strive to live long ( beyond reunion, of course, many many years.)

We all have many things to share with each other. Just imagine, 42 years times how many people, different vocations and occupations, business opportunities and contacts, drug samples, swapping stories about kids and grandkids, expertise and sad experiences, etc, etc. . What's important is that we enjoy our reunion. How nice is it that you have even gotten in touch with our teachers. I remember Miss Flor Medina. She was very beautiful. Is Miss Aguilar still alive? I liked her English classes very much.

Zorro, thanks for sharing with us many things about your family. I am happy about the successes of your children. You were always a good boy naman, masyado lang makulit at palabiro noong high school days. Hope to be seeing you. I also enjoy your "texted" emails. Ibig sabihin, bagets ka pa rin. It's amazing you also can remember the songs. Bilib talaga ako.

Maybe next mails I can also share about my family and send some family pictures also. Just quite busy now.

Thanks to all.

Thanks for your responses and suggestions. I pray that you are all,as well as your loved ones are wholesomely blessed.

In my opinion, it would be better if we hold the reunion to the place that is located between Calaca & Bauan, Batangas.I hope our batchmates in the Phils. will select the best suitable place for our reunion.

I heard from Imelda that Yoly is here in New York. Imelda forgot Yoly's married name,so I can't search her from the internet, nor ask from the operator
her telephone #. You're right about Estela that most of our classmates had crush with her. If I'm not mistaken, during high school Leeland was one of them, tama ba ako-Leeland? Atin atin lang naman ito. Estela's mother was a teacher, I think, in one of the barrios in Lemery. Francia was one of a kind - pretty, jolly & kind, wala akong masabi. Did you know that she is already with the Lord? Wilhelmina de Villa and Emeteria Umali lived in different places. Wilhelmina V. Limpoco now lives in Salinas, Ca., but I couldn't get her exact address and her tel. #-it's unlisted. Si Emperatriz pala ang crush mo, ha? Pare ko - we both had the same experience-hindi makaporma sa mga crush natin.

Take care, and have a good day/night.

Hi Uro!

You don't have to tell me your age dahil magkababata tayo. I'll be 58 this coming June 12 (Independence Day). But your recollections add minutes to my life.

You're right - Caroline, Wilhelmina & Emerita were unseperables. No wonder because they were of the same height-maliit sila, same us (Danny & Maxi Atienza).

Paki sabi lang po kay Zardo na kilala siya ng kanyang mga kaklase bilang isang "TIGASIN", so we expect him to be in our forthcoming reunion. If he is not going to show up, sayang ang pagka Chief of Police niya (joke only).

Pare ko, don't tell me that senior moment also bother you. Apolonio's family name is Lacerna. I remember Billy was our classmates during elementary up to 1st year. Billy was adopted by Mr. Matira, our vocational teacher, so he transferred to Inikbulan, Bauan, Batangas. We, especially the boys, couldn't forget Billy because he was jolly fellow at maloko.

Talking about cheating - honestly, takot ako.

As always, if you can contract our batchmates/classmates, please convince them to come. Please tell them to set aside whatever reasons they might have in mind. The reunion is open to everyone, which will lead everyone to be heard, help, and be helped if needed.

So long folks, my break time is over. I have to go back to work.

Hi, Everyone,

I've been thinking, it would be nice if we can listen to some old music of our times in high school during the reunion.

I can probably search in the internet for some music made between 1961 to 1965 and download some of them and burn them onto a CD. However, it maybe more fun if some of you can remember songs that had been part of our high school days. Songs that you remember listening to during our lunch break at the kaymito tree or when working on our assignment at home. Or songs that were performed by some of us during one of our many convocations and programs in school.

I will just need the name of the songs and maybe the artist (if you remember) and I will do the trouble of searching for them in the internet. How about that! Suggestions anybody?

Just trying to make our reunion more interesting.

Regards,
Leland

wrm@bdo.com.ph wrote

Hi, Leland,

This is a very good idea. If we play the present "hits", very few among us, if ever, will understand. My wife and I attended a 70th birthday party of a friend in Manila and all the songs were vintage 50's and 60's. They even had a trio performing live. Anyway, when I noted that, I thought of suggesting it, and it's good that you also had the same idea.

I think we should have some of the best of the Beatles. I also remember a song which is a favorite of our lady classmates -" Sad Movies", anyway, your Internet will be very useful since you are a "certified techie" anyway. I think our classmates will soon flood you with suggestions and song titles. Problem is that sometimes, we can hum the tune but can't remember the titles and the lyrics anymore.

Let us plan for a good cultural night where we can bring our families, specially our spouses. I will have more inputs in the next emails. Sorry for not being actively in the email loop, just got busy lately, but definitely, I read and save and sometimes even print all the e-mails, specially the ones from you, Tony and Fred (IPido), and lately, of course, the funny ones from Zorro.

In the cultural night, let us not forget ballroom dancing. This is Imelda's lifetime craze. ( I just remembered I can't dance).

I have a special thanks for you, Leland for sending me the beautiful sceneries, paintings, etc. in the email. They are very educational, entertaining and soul-lifting. I saved them in a special folder in my email.

Thanks, and till next mail. I fervently hope you and your family are in the pink of health and happiness.

Best Regards,

Sonny (Minong)

Hi Guys:

Ray - thanks for your prompt response to our e-mail. How humble you are. How many years have you been with Shell? My deceased uncle, Erasmo Almaria, worked for so many years for Shell.

With Ray's permission, may I state some of his credentials. Ray was a 7th placer in the Architect Board Exam, and he is also a Civil Engineer. I learned that his Company was the one who designed and built the house of Bongbong Marcos - wow naman.

The e-mail address natureheal.gvv@yahoo.com. is for Gerardo Vergara from Bihis, Sta Teresita, Batangas. I remember him because I, sometimes during vacant period, hanged out in Ka Violy's house (stambayan ng mga taga Buli, Sta Teresita at Tawilisan). As far as my memory can recall, Leeland's hanged out in Isla's house along Ilustre Ave. I was a freelancer - sometimes in Ka Eko/Imee's house, or in Violy's house, under the acacia, talisay or kaynito trees.

Please be informed that I already mailed my letter to ABS-CBN "The Filipino Channel" to their address at Redwood City, CA. My letter is to request for an air time to announce in any of their shows (Wow Wow Wee, Pilipinas Game Ka Na BA, ASAP) our upcoming grand reunion. I also planned to talk to Willie Revillame when he and the staffs of Wow Wow Wee perform in Chicago this July 6.

I don't know if Imelda enjoyed her stay in Chicago, Because of my limited time - I'm saving my vacation days for the grand reunion - I wasn't able to attend to her all the time. I met her just for a day - took her to Wisconsin, to our house in Gurnee, and to my brother-in-law's house where Mrs. Nilda Aro is staying. Mrs. Aro & Imelda were both happy when they saw its other. A lot and long chicahan.

"Til my next e-mail.

Regards, and have a pleasant day/night.

Kumusta uli mga classmates. You know we went home last April 2006 to attend the Fil-Am Masons convention in Bacolod City. After the convention umuwi kami sa Taal/Lemery. We had lunch with Imelda and she showed me a list of all the sections and names of Class 65. Maybe we could ask her for the list.

By the way we have lunch at Max 's Restaurant in Batangas City. At the same day We have dinner date with Pareng Hermie and Mareng Francia, Poly Lacerna and his wife , and Wilson Medrano and his wife . Imelda can't join us to Project 4, Las pinas. where all of them live. We were so happy that night recalling all those happy days in high school. We never thought that will be the last time we're going to see Mareng Francia. They even made a promised that night that they will get together once a month because even they live in the same subdivision they dont see each other.

But anyway Imelda have the complete list. And you guys are right. that guy in between is Wilson Medrano.

Thank you all for keeping intouch. God bless you all. Tony let me know how many copies of picture you need and I will send it to you.

I can't do it. Just add this on your list.

Emeteria is a teacher, not an accountant.

Ate Lina - nurse, married,3 children, Leila,nurse

Veneranda Arandia - teacher

Yolanda de Castro- Detroit, Michigan, married. I saw her at Detroit's airport in 1990, she said she doesn't know me, even after telling her my name. I was so frustrated .

Anita de Sagun, and there is another girl in their group, but I can't remember her name.

Flordeliza Fajardo, Maximo Atienza, Clavel Mendoza, Pilar de la Luna, teacher

Waldy de la Luna

Not too bad, we almost have everybodys name on our section. Probably Vida, Polng's wife can help us find some of her classmates.

Till next e-mail.

I have three kids, 2 boys and a girl. They are already grown up and finished college and all are working. This X'mas, I'll make sure to have our pictures taken and send it to everybody I know.

I met my husband here in N.Y. and got married here.

So long and till next mail.

Always,
Lina

Hi, Tony! I read all your emails but was not able to answer. Always busy with meetings. Then when I have time to reply, the server here is not cooperating. My text could not be sent.

First, I would like to thank you again for bringing me to the Holy Hill, for meeting your family and meeting Mrs. Aro. Even if I have not gone to any other places when I was there, having gone to the Holy HiIl is a spiritual upliftment for me.

We met last night at the house of Bert Biscocho. He was a reelectionist for councilor of Sta. Teresita but he did not make it. It is their town fiesta and he invited us. We had a brief meeting there; we were only six - Mario, Bert, Gado, Waldy, Lavin and me. We agreed to hold our reunion on Dec. 22, Saturday. We will still scout for a place. We will consider first the suggestion of Wilfredo, the Casa Corazon in Sinisian West, Lemery. I have stayed there overnight twice. The place is okay, with a big function hall, swimming pool and cottages but there is no restaurant. We have to bring the food and drinks. It is perched on a hill overlooking Balayan Bay. The other places suggested which they found in the Internet is far from Lemery. We have to take into consideration that not everybody here have a car.

Communicating through email is a problem here because not everybody is computer literate, do not have computer at homes and so they do not have email addresses. Snail mail is the only means to communicate with them. It's good for those we know the cp nos. We can text or call them. We will go around again to distribute letters about our reunion. We agreed not to place any amount of contribution. Others may not come because they may not be able to afford the contribution. Mario jokingly said that we will ask even only five of you who are abroad to shoulder the food (I jokingly said that even Felipe alone can shoulder it), and the venue will be from us here. In our reunion last December, even though we have contribution, those who can afford still brought food. There is so much food so we were able to bring home the excess. The core group here who have attended the meetings is about 20 and we think we can ask these 20 people to bring food aside from their contributions.

On a personal context, Tony, we all have our downhills and uphills. Though the downhills are the spice of life, yet we have to be strong to be able to face them. I hope in our 'wizened and twilight' years there will be more uphills than downhills.

I will email Leland the complete list of our batch which he is asking from me. I will include the contact nos. and email addresses. I still have copies of our Pansipit courier. I will see how I can put in the Internet the articles printed there and the pictures.

Best regards to you and your family!

Correction nga pala, Yolanda Marasigan's email is not the email of Yolanda de Castro. I do not think the first Yolanda will be interested to attend our reunion because she is a not a graduate of BWHS. She transferred to Manila when we were in the second year.

Leland/Tony,

It was great talking with you guys on the phone. It’s really wonderful to be reconnected with friends and classmates whom you shared unforgetable and precious memories( experiences, friendship and camaraderie over several years. There are so much to tell and to talk about and we are just starting to catch up.

Last night, Tony and I reminished some memories of our good old days at BWHS. We talked about our agronomy class under Mr. Matira when we were picking up “ kaning baboy” from the Lemery town market to feed the pigs under our student care, caponizing young roosters (including females for some who didn’t bring males),the fieldtrip to Mr. Matira’s place in Bauan (not 100% sure if this right)when we were still wearing shorts and PMT haircut, swimming at the sea in Sambal, Lemery during lunchtime when Carlos Cueto from Matingain was almost drowned because he didn’t know how to swim), and the “noontime stambay, kuwentuhan, tawanan at Ka Iko and Ka me’s store”

I am so happy and proud for each and everyone’s achievements as well as your contributions to the betterment and well-being of your adopted community and presumably to our kababayans in the Philippines. Last night, as I mentioned to Tony, I attended the christmas party and the fund-raising event of our Filipino uinrella association in Edmonton, Alberta, the “Council of Edmonton Filipino Associations or CEFA)” of which I am a Board Member. We are raising funds for the abused children in the Philippines.

Leland, I have reviewed our class nominal roll that you’ve prepared with the invaluable assistance of France and others) whom I understand based on the e—mails need some Microsoft Office Suite training and you’ve given to France). I have nothing to add at this time, but I haveany updates to make in the future, I would keep everyone posted. I have added those with e—mail addresses to my computer personnal addressbook.

By the way, as I also mentioned to Tony, at this time of the year, we have already about one foot snow on the ground and it will continue to stock up and will remain until spring (March or April). If anybody wants to celebrate white christmas, please come to Edmonton, Alberta and I would be happy to give your a tour of the Candy Cane Lane and other tourist winter attractions around the city. My ninang from Boston ( a retired New York State university professor and originally from Lemery, Batangas)who came here one Christmas called Edmonton as the “Frozen City”. I guess she’s right.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVRYONE!!!

Best regards,
Wilfredo (Fred) Dimailig

Hi Imelda!

I pray that you & your family are always blessed wholesomely - the same way us here (far away from home—Phils.) in North America.

As your (BWHS-Batch 65) reunion is fast approaching, I always reminisce our high school days. In your opinion, as a Psychiatrist, is it part of the aging process? I know that during your reunion on Sunday, 12/17/06, everyone will be telling stories of the past, what happened after graduation, etc. Leeland is right that we have to share our life stories before our grand reunion to save time, so we’ll be able to enjoy the get together party.

Before I share with you my life after our graduation, circa 65, please allow me to recall those sweet high school memories, which I cherished so much. As the saying goes “Ang hindi daw lumigon sa pinangalingan ay hindi makakarating sa paroroonan.” Probably that’s the reason why I am here in the “Land of Milk & Honey”, because I always turned back to where I came from. I can still remember June 1961 when I entered the BWHS premises as a freshman student. Our adviser was Mrs. Luminada (Ka Inggay) Inumerable, and who was also our teacher in English. I remember our World History teacher, Mr. Sixto Martinez, who slightly hit my head with a chalk because I couldn’t answer his question. There was Miss Rita Lota who I can still picture (in my mind) her face. One of her eyelid (right) was a little bit lower. As soon as we sat on our chair, we heard “Takdang Aralin”. For the boys, we had Mr. Matira as our Vocational teacher. I couldn’t forget the grade that he gave me - 95% - the only highest grade that I got in high school.

During our sophomore year, Mr. Circiaco Lota (Francia’s father) was our adviser and our teacher in English. I remember Miss Matira for our Filipino subject. We held our class (Florante at Laura) at her classroom beside the stage. Mrs. Lorenza Carnero Austria was our teacher in Mathematics, and we held the class in the library, which was located at the back of the Principal’s Office. For our English(Literature) subject, she was Mrs. Zalaiueda. She has a Visayan accent. Up to now I can still recite some of the stanzas of the poems that we were required to memorize - Sonnet 29 by William Shakespear, Passionate Shepherd to his Love authored by John Milton. For the boys — we have Mr. Lontoc as our Teacher for the Industrial Art. There was Mrs. Nilda Aro who taught us the Phil. History. I think she was also the Guidance Counselor.

Junior year was an exciting one because our classroom was filled with preserved species. Miss Rodriguez was our Adviser, and our Biology teacher. She was a strict—looking-woman. I think Miss Razon was our teacher in Filipino. Most of the time we held our class under the acasia tree at the back of the HE building. Mr. Artemio Alcayde was our Geometry teacher, and the same time our (boys) PMT Commandant. During our drill, our platoon were composed of small boys — to name a few Danny, Leeland, Maximo Atienza, Nardito Hernandez, Nani (I think), Wilfredo Dimailig. Our platoon leader was either Lasala or Decena (I forgot their first name). I remember during the passing review the Corp Commander was Poly Lacerna with Leila as her escort. Poly’s staff were Poling Bathan-escorted by Vida Huertas, Wilson was escorted by Lina Bendana. Domingo (Sundy) was a platoon leader, and was escorted by Lina Brotonel.

During our Senior year, we had Mr. Orlina as our Adviser and teacher in Physic. Mrs. Salazar was our Economics teacher while Mrs. Orbita taught us the Pilipino (Noli & Fili). Miss Norma Aguilar was our teacher in English. We were instructed to memorize the poem by Walt Whitman “0 Captain, My Captain. Until now I can still recite the poem, which I am proud of because the man “lbraham Lincoln” to whom it was dedicated lived in this State (Illinois) where I live now. Nuestra maestra en Espanol esta Senora Flor Medina. Ella es alta, xexual sexy) & muy hermosa. I heard that she lives in Baldwin Park, Ca. I’ll try to get in touch with her, and invite her to attend our Grand Reunion.

Though most of our teachers had passed away, but they can rest assured that their patience in teaching us didn’t go in vain.

My office break time is over now, so I have to close my recollection of the past. I hope you enjoy reading, and I thank you for sparing your time. Next time will be Part 2 (My life after BWFIS), if you won’t mind.

God bless you all, and have a pleasant day.
Tony

Tony,

That was a very good story of your life. You really amaze me with your very detailed and vivid memory of your past. I wish I had your good memory. At my age — I even forgot what I’ve done last week! He-he—he.)

Anyway, that’s so nice of you to relate to us your story. I wish everybody would do that so we have an idea of where he/she has been and what made us what we are today. As I said, it is better to know each other now than later so we can enjoy ourselves better during the reunion.

I talked to Nannie Carnero the other night. And he, as always, as I remembered him, bubbly and giggle a lot. We had a very long conversation of his life and mine, and both of us regret why we never had a reunion many years ago. We have probably been closer to each other and perhaps we have had reunions many times before.

He is now a resident psychiatrist in one of the hospitals there in Kentucky, happily married, and has a 23-year old daughter studying medicine. He admitted that he doesn’t know much about computer, although he owned one long time ago, in the early nineties. His daughter has a desk top PC and a laptop, but he never has an interest to learn how to use it. I told him to learn fast or he will be left behind in our correspondence. He said he would ask his daughter to give him a lesson or two.

I also talked to Wilfredo Dimailig on the phone, last night. Wilfredo (Fedo) or Fred as they call him now, is a full pledge accountant working in the finance department of the Canadian government Ministry of Defense.

He lives in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada since 1976. He was married for 27 years and had adopted two girls, now all grown up who studied and working in the Philippines. He is looking forward to see us in the reunion next year. He even suggested that we have a reunion of all us here living in North America.

I told him about the death of Francia, which he didn’t know about, and we talked about Juanito Magsumbol and Reynaldo Dimailig, who both passed away many years ago. He also told me about his college years in GE where Joe Sison and Rosauro Napa also attended, all of them taking commerce degree.

I guess that’s all I can tell you right now. Best wishes to everybody.

Regards,
Leland

Poling - thanks for your keeping us in touch. I already printed the pictures (black & white nga lang) and attached them to the e—mails print out, which I mailed this morning to Nani, Felipe, Renato & Rudy Pesigan, Leila & Doming (Sundy). I am just wondering why Sundy is not responding to our e—rnails. I included him in the mail because I assumed that he is not getting our e—mails.

Just a minute ago, this morning, France called to inform me that Mareng Veneranda’s Arandia) husband passed away (she is not quite sure if it was last Sunday or yesterday).
Her husband, Macario Alcaraz, is the godfather of my eldest son. I don’t think she might be able to attend the reunion this Sunday, 12/17/06.

Imelda, please do me a favor - if you happened to meet my comadre, please extend my condolences to her. Please tell her that I was saddened by the passing of my good friend, barkada & compadre.

Regards to all.

Hi, Tony and classmates! Some of the contents of this email might not be updates anymore as i missed sending emails the past two months. Yes, am very ‘toxic’, the medical people’s term for super busy. I have no helper, only my grandson and me in my house in atangas City.So I do all the household chores plus work in the clinic and in the hospital. I am still very active with the medical associations here, both local and national. My apologies for not being able to relate to you and all our classmates there at once about the reunion here last December 2006.

Let me start with the preparations first. We had monthly meetings before December and thrice we went around our batchmates in Lemery and the neighboring towns. My grandson whom I am taking care of was always with me and twice he was almost biten by the dog in the places of our batchmates. Sad to say that we were disappointed when about 90% whom we were able to talk to personally did not come during the day of the reunion. I even texted them a few days before the meeting to remind them about it. A few were courteous enough to reply telling me the reasons why they coud not come. Many did not reply to my text. We told them about the ‘grand reunion’ this year. I hope this time they will be able to come. We will not go to different places anymore. We will just send them letters of invitation. Ray Baldoz suggested that email is the best, Of course, it is! But only a handful here have computers in their houses. Otherwise they have to go to the internet cafe to access their emails. Many do not even know how to use the computer, much more the email. Most have cellphones but you cannot text them all that you wanted to say. With regards the calls, what transpired during the conversations could easily be forgotten if it is not written down. We will try to reach as many of our batchmates in preparation for our grand reunion.

The food was not catered. The males agreed that they will prepare them. Some of the females helped them with the marketing. It was a big work. They stayed up late for the cooking. It must have been fun for them but they were not able to rest and sleep well before the reunion since they stayed awake during the food preparation. Some of us during the meetings suggested that the food be catered but the males insisted that a big amount could be saved if it would be prepared by the group. There was lots of food though. A few brought additional food for lunch and merienda. Expected attendance is at least 50 from the alumni only and about the same number of accompanying persons, but only 33 alumni and 20 guests came , so most went home with food take aways.

Regarding the attendance, almost half, 15, was from section 1, 6 from section 2, 5 from section 3, none from section 4 , 3 from section 5 and 3 from vocational course. From section 1, those who attended were: Waldy, Gloria, Maximo, Emeteria, Carolina, Mario, Pilar, Wenona, Normilando, Jaime, Hermie, Poly, Arturo, Marcelina and me.Section 2 — my Ate Nory (Honorata Punzalan—Moredo), Iluminada Gumapac—Baldoz, Carmelita Calibot—Reyes, Manolo Carandang, Nita Atienza—San Pedro, Edmundo Moredo. Section 3 — Liberato Biscocho, Gerardo Vergara, Daniel Holgado, Demetrio Aquino, Marcial Sangalang. Section 5 — Gerardo Picazo, Raynato Baldoz, Iluminada Vito— Balboa.Vocational course — Lavinia Calangi—De Guzman, Aristeo Enriquez and Eugenio Salarda, Jr. Do you want to know where these people are working/doing now, their positions, their number of children and grandchildren? Well, the introduction will be done again during our grand reunion. There is a plan too to do a souvenir program. It was assigned to me. I hope I will be able to finish it on time for our reunion. I will email to you the data you will have to fill up to be published in the souvenir program.

The program was prepared by Gb Estacio (note that she has still the same family name as when we were students, still single and available) who is a district supervisor now. The numbers in the program are descriptive; she made the acronym of REUNION. So instead of invocation which is the first number, she made it “Revere God thru prayer.”

The assembly was in front of BWHS (now LeMeHi) from 7—8am and the motorcade going to the venue was scheduled at 8—8:3Oam but we were able to leave 9:30am already (the Filipino time, always late; I am one who is guilty of this!). The venue was in Punzalan 3 Beach Resort in Nonong Casto. There was videoke so there was much singing (I did most of it, so did Jun Salarda and Poly Lacerna)

There was much fun during the parlor games. Know what? There was a game, bursting the balloon. Manolo and Maximo were the ones left in that game. In the course of running after the other to be able to burst the opponent’s balloon, Maximo’s denture fell. He readily picked it up and put it back to its place. The audience laughed to their heart’s content for several minutes. During the introduction of each alumnus, many recalled our high school days. A few said they were the ‘bolakboleros.’ A few did not want to elaborate on their families, being separated from their spouses (aray! I am one of them).

The following are the officers:
President - Mario Rodriguez
Vice President - Liberato Biscocho
Secretary — Waidy Dela Luna—Diokno
Treasurer — Pilar Dela Luna-Cortiflas
Auditor - Honorata Punzalan-Moredo
PRO — Ray Baldoz for overseas
— Iluminada Gumapac-Baidoz
- Nita Atienza-San Pedro
- Eugenio Salarda, Jr.

Standing Committees:
Ways and Means Chair — Apolonio Lacerna
Members: Manolo Carandang and Gerardo Picazo
Physical Arrangement Chair - Danilo Holgado
Members: Normilando Lascano and Maximo Atienza
Program: Imelda, Lina Bendaña—Cabaneiro and Arturo Boa,br>

I will forward to you the other details of the business meeting when I have finished polishing the minutes forwarded to me by Mareng Waldy. She was actually declining the position of the secretary which she held before the reunion but I volunteered to help her. I told her that she be the one to get the minutes every meeting and I will do the polishing and the typing. Doming Razon is here until Feb. 15. Mareng Waldy and I were able to meet him when we passed by his place in Bucal after I came from a court hearing in Balayan. He said yearly he spends holiday here for a month, always on Jan. 15 to Feb 15. He asked if it can be moved within these dates that he is here. Since last year the date was set already, so I think it cannot be moved anymore. Most of you there had your mind set that it will be during the Christmas season and so us here too.

Thanks for your call, Leland, when you were here. I met your brother, Dr. Ernie. This evening I just came from the appreciation and farewell party hosted by Cong. Mandanas for the medical mission team headed by your brother. The Batangas Regional Hospital where I am working is very grateful to them. I texted Grace, your cousin, who is now Dra. Culia, and she is also sending her regards to you and your siblings.

Our next meeting will be on February 24, probably in Marcelina’s house in Ayala Aiabang in Muntinlupa. I will email you again what will transpire in that meeting.

Ciao for now classmates! My very belated new year greetings of peace and happiness! Happy Valentine! Advanced Kung Hoi Fat Choi for the Chinese New Year on Feb. 18. I hope all of us will be progressive and successful as predicted in this year of the Pig. God bless us all!

Hi Imelda!

You don’t have to apologize for not relating to us at once what transpired in your reunion. I personally would like to thank you for sparing your precious time, in spite of being “toxicated”, to make your reunion a successful one. However, it turned out to be the opposite of your expectation — the attendance (17%) is really disgusting. I also felt so sorry that your grandson was almost bitten by the dogs when you went to our batchmates/classmates’ places

For whatever reasons that some of our batchmates/classmates were not able to attend the reunion — they are losing a very important things in their life — especially now that we are not getting any younger. In my opinion, reunion is one of the best ways to show to our children and/or grandchildren who we were then and who we are now. Our status in life now (whether we are successful or not, whether we are professionals or not, whether we are employed or unemployed, whether we are still single, married or separated, whether we are rich or poor, etc) are not hindrances for us not to show up in the reunion.

I congratulate all of you that, in spite of being few, you had lots of funs. I remember Maximo whom I had a fist fight. We were 1st year then - while the group (Nory, Renato, Wilfredo, Wilson, Felizardo, Rosauro, etc) were walking (along the street near the church) home, Maximo made fun of me. The group stirred me up “Sige nga, hawakan mo nga ang tainga ni Maxi”. Nasulsolan naman ako — kaya ayon — suntokan na. It was hard to fight with Maxi “Kalmot ang inabot ko”

I noticed that you didn’t include Danny & Felizardo as one who were present? Did they attend? They live in Lemery, aren’t they?

Please let us know of whatever assistance we can extend to make this year’s reunion a success. I also would like to encourage our batchmates/classmates for their suggestions and/or opinions.

As always, I’ll print and mail this e—mail to our batchmates/classmates to keep them posted.

Take care, and God bless us all.
Tony

PS - Is your plan to attend the conference here in Chicago going to materialize? Just let me know.

Please extend my regards to your wife and to your son.

Hi Leeland!

Thanks for your response. I hope you & your loved ones are doing great. Sauro haven’t responded yet. He may be busy counting the monies in the Central Banic (joke only). Hopefully we will hear from him through her daughter’s email address.

A couple of days ago I spoke with Imelda, and she told me that she has already a US visa. Her port of entry will be LA, which is tentatively scheduled on 04/07/07 or 04/08/07. She will fly to Chicago on 04/11/07 to attend the convention to be held on 04/14/07 and 04/15/07 (Saturday & Sunday). She will then leave for Korea for another convention on 04J1 6/07.

Last Tuesday, 03/20/07, Dr. Philip (Felipe Enriquez) got in touch with me to ask about Imelda’s schedule. We also discussed about our reunion. According to Philip, this December 2007 he will spend a month in the Phils. to attend our grand reunion, and to do his medical mission. He is asking if he could ask assistance from our former classmateslbatchmates as he perform his mission. I think his request will be granted because it is a noble cause. By the way, when Philip called me, he was in Chicago to meet his son. Philip’s son was a graduate of West Point, and is a Captain in the US Army. He (Philip’s son) is now in Chicago to attend a special forces (if I am not mistaken - like green beret), and looking forward to be assigned in Pentagon. Who lcnows - someday we’ll learn that another Filipino will be shining in Pentagon - like Gen Tagala.

The website is really informative. You can go to www.pinoysearch.com. Also, one of the best ways to disseminate our planned reunion is through television, which I did. Today, Filipino TV programs are seen worldwide. I already sent my letter to ABS-CBN International at Redwood City, CA. I’m still waiting for their response.

Regards to all.

Hi, Tony! Thanks for the postcard you sent from San Diego. I just came back from a 3 day international psychiatric convention in Taipei. The tallest building in the world, Taipei 101, is there.

Did you receive Ray’s email to Elsa? Francia passed away two weeks ago. Seven of us (Pilar, Waldy, Lavinia, Mario, Jaime, Cris Punzalan and I)went to the funeral parlor in Sucat where she lay for a few days. There we met Apolonio with his wife and Lina Bendania with her husband.

She was buried in Lemery. Danny, Li Cauntay, Nory Lascano, Gerry Picazo and I attended it.

Some of our classmates went to Labac where she lay for two days before the burial.

We are on the final stage of planning for this December reunion. We hope to get more attendees this time so we can announce to them the grand reunion next year. We will have a meeting again on October 14.

Warm regards!

I have no recent photo of myself to show you. However, I would like to ask you to please view this website: www.karilagandancesociety.net to have a peek of myself and my wife. The photos were taken a couple of years ago. Please click the Karilagan Logo on top, then Officers, Members and Volunteers on the left.

My wife and I have been actively involved with the Karilagan Dance Society of Edmonton for about 16 years now. Hy wife has been the President, Choreographer and Executive Director since we joined Karilagan. I danced with the group for about 14 years.

Our dance group had performed in New York City (at the Philippine Consulate Center), Ios Angeles, San Francisco, San Jose and San Obispo, California, Montreal and in the Philippines at the invitation of some Filipino groups.

Karilagan is popular here in Edmonton and surrounding towns, and performs at various social, multicultural and fundraising events, e.g.,Philippine Independence Day Celebration, Heritage Festival, etc. Karilagan also publishes a quarterly Filipino newspapers “Philippine Hiyas”. I used to write the Editorial or Commentary.

Karilagan also gives awards and recognitions to outstanding Canadian-Filipinos in Alberta through its annual Hiyas Award. I chaired this Award for the past several years. Karilagan is being funded by the Alberta Government.

You may pass along this website, if so desire. If anyone in our Class 65 wants to write an article about the Class Reunion and/or publish the Class Reunion photo, I would certainly have it published in the Philippine Hiyas.

You know me and ate Lina are close relative. My grandmother and his father are first cousin. So, Ate Lina is like my aunt sa pinsan. I said previous mayor because he was asked by Macapagal’s adm. to step down. So at present there is a new mayor. But I think he is appealing.

You know I have been sick with flu, bronchitis and asthma. This has been my 3rd week out of work, that’s why I can always look at my e-mail and respond. One way of killing time.

You told me about your family, I haven’t told you about mine, not much to tell, only me and my husband. I don’t have a child. My mother and 2 of my brothers are living with me here in Houston. Their family are in the Phil.

I just got e-mail from Lina. Her husband had a quadruple bypass last october, but he is okay now.t

Before marinate the chicken with the above carrot and tomatoe juices, please wash the chicken then put salt. ( ipunas yun salt na mabuti sa buong chicken) then ibabad na yun chicken sa tomato and carrot juices. add a little of black ground pepper and a little hot sauce to make it spicey.

After two hours puede na i-grill by turning the chicken every minutes minutes to evenly grilled the chicken. more or less in 30 to 35 minutes luto na at ready to eat.

The reason why carrot juice (not soy sauce) mas healthy and not to make the chicken dark when done.

Ok. Goodluck.

Hi Everyone!

It's Saturday morning, 9:00 AM Chicago time, 05/05/07, I took a time out in baby sitting my grandson, Mathew, to spend couple of minutes para makipagbalitaan sa aking mga kamag-aral.

Ray, thanks for your continuous response, which keep the"BWHS65" ball rolling. Seriously, you're right this planned reunion will be a historic one in BWHS. I hope our officers and all of our batchmates will cooperate in making this affair a success - by locating the whereabout of our batchmates, and by convincing them (batchmates), who have negative perspective, to attend.

Maiba ako ng topic. Mahilig ba kayo sa basketball - maging PBA o NBA? If so, let's talk about the NBA? Who do you think will be the 2006-07 NBA Champion. For me, of course, it will be our team the "Chicago Bulls". In the last concluded playoff games, we eliminated the 2005-06 NBA Champion "Miami Heat". Walang sinabi ang Heat - in the best of 7 games - 4-0 in favor of the Bulls. So, the Bulls moved forward for the the 2nd playoff games - this time the Bulls against the Detriot "Piston", which will start tonight for best of 7 games. I know the Bulls will defeat all contending teams because they matured already, and beside its their "Teamwork" that counts.

I remember again our high school days, during our vacant periods or after the last subject in the afternoon, some of the boys (Poly, Nory, Wilson, Poling, Zorro, Zardo, Renato, etc. & me) played basketball. We played at the BWHS basketball court, which was located at the back of the campus, or at Lepco that was far away from the school. Lepco was situated near the Lemery public market, and close to the Lemery Electric Plant & the Pansipit.river. Most often, our team (Section I) played against other sections. Sometimes I felt irritated, but still I stayed in the court until the game was over.

The basketball came into my mind because it's been a long time that we were sending e-mails, but it's only handfull who responded. As I believe, I know you do, that the success of whatever goals you may want will depend on Teamwork. We'll appreciate it very much to hear from you (even just a word), and let everyone of us feels your presence, which will gives us the encouragement to go on. In spite of your silence, we thank you for sparing your precious time in reading our e-mails, especially mine, which is always long (pasensya na lang po).

Regards, and have a safety weekend.

Dear all,

Akala ako lang ang basketball fanatic amongst the batch...hindi yabang sa inyo (iboto ninyo ako)...apart from being an architect and civil engineer (both lisenced, of course) ay ambition ko rin ma-involve sa larong ito kung hindi sa paglalaro ay sa coaching. Marami akong na-attend na seminars and coaching clinics not only in the philippines but also in the USA when I was cross posted to shell houston for 4 years... Naging permanent coach ako ng shell basketball team both in USA, Holland, Oman and Philippines, commercial nga lang. Tony, siguro kilala mo si Dave Regullano ng former meralco team (MICAA) with the big Jawo. Kaming dalawa ni Dave ang buddy buddy ngayon me as his assistant coach (defensive ang line ko), it was unfortunate na inagaw sa amin ni Bogs Adornado ang adamson University Varsity team kasi super lakas ng loko kay Leo Austria ng Welcoat PBA team. Way back sa amateur league, naging assistant coach ako ng PBL Magnolia team last year at kami ang naging champion and history pare/mare, kasi sa best of 3 ng finals ay 0-2 kami pero sa lakas ng determination namin nahabol sa 1-2, 2-2, till 3-2 in favour sa amin. kaya hayun na-dyaryo din ang mukha ko sa philippine soil sa lahat ng sport page ng tabloids and newspapers natin. sa totoo, pareho tayo maliit, 5' 6" lang ako during high school days at ngayon lumapad na ako kaya naging 5"4" na ako...kaya ang taguri ko sa aking sarili sa inyo ay "your tiny neighbour".

Back to work, sino ba sa inyo ang gustong (dapat computer wizard) mag create ng common folder para sa project natin, tulad ng bilin ko, ang photos should be maximum of 125kb in space memory and 125 dpi image resolution. Just keep in dumping at ako bahala pumulot ng inilagay ninyo...diyan ako sa expert sa pamumulot ng latang yupi (joke only ha).

Your tiny neighbour,

Hi, Guys,

I've been looking at different websites in the internet hoping to find a suitable venue for our reunion. There are a number of choices for us, but I'm not too sure what the majority of us would like.

In my humble opinion, to make our reunion enjoyable the veniue must be:

1) Easily accessable to everybody.
This means it should be within 5 km radius of BWHS because I know most of us live there. Also, it will be accessable either by tricycle or jeepney.

2) Some place private with friendly neighborhood
A place that we can have exclusively for ourselves for atleast 3 days.

3) Something relatively big with lots of room to move around.
Good for at least 100 people. There are approx.40 people possible attendees in our section alone.
It maybe a resort, an hacienda or a big farm.

4) Some place with swimming facilities
Most of us grew up near the water so I'm sure most of us will be eager to swim.
It maybe a beach or a resort with swimming pool.

5) Some place with accomodation for some who would like to stay overnight
Some resort with cottages or hotels.
Or some place very close to hotels

6) Some place with a pavilion
A pavilion or a common ground where we can have a program or get together.
Some place we can have kareoke or some dancing

From the internet, I found the following sites:

1) Matabungcay Beach
It is a two-kilometer long white sand beach situated in the town of Lian, facing the China Sea. The area is ideal for water sports, such as swimming, boating, yachting, fishing, and skin diving. Dotting the shoreline are several summer cottages.

2) Gerthel Beach
Located in the town of Lobo, it is one of the finest beaches of the area. The approximately one-kilometer stretch of white sand beach has a gradually sloping ocean floor of up to about two hundred meters before the drop off.

3) Mahabang Buhangin Beach
Located in the town of San Juan, the area has white sand and a living colony of corals.

4) Taal Lake and Volcano
Southern Luzon's centerpiece attraction is Taal Lake and Volcano in Batangas. The gateway for most visitors is through Tagaytay City, from the ridge where a panoramic view of Volcano Island can be seen. It can also be access at the town Tawilisan.

5) Hugon Beach
The white sand of Hugon Beach is one kilometer long. Some parts of the sea floor have smooth rocks but most are sandy. There is a sudden drop-off of about ten meters from the beach. The waters of the beach are also good for snorkeling.

6) Punta Baluarte, Calatagan

A nature resort set on the rolling hills of hacienda Bigaa, Punta Baluarte offers first-rate accommodations, world class golf course and facilities.

7)Virgin Beach Resort
It sits by the shores of Laiya, facing east, adjacent to Sigayan Bay, one of the cleanest bays in the Philippines. The resort has more than a kilometer of pristine white sand beach.

8)The Anilao Outrigger Resort
It is located in Solo, Mabini, Batangas and is a 2 1/2 hours drive south of Metro Manila, Philippines/ The resort has 38 rooms overlooking beautiful Balayan Bay. A full service bar and restaurant serves meals in an al fresco dining area.

There are many more places, like beaches in Nasugbo, but this e-mail getting long. I’ll tell more about it in my next mail

Regards,
Leland

Hi Everyone!

As always, I pray that we, as well as our loved ones, are wholesomely blessed. Thanks for your responses.

I'm sorry I missed all your e-mails yesterday, 05/03/07. I was out of the office (call in) because I'm not feeling well. I tried to save my vacation days and my sick days for the forthcoming reunion, but sometimes it's unavoidable. I have to take a rest to gain strength. As you know, I am already in my autumn year. Anyway, I'm back in the office, and will be able to respond to, among others, your e-mails.

Zorro, thanks for your clarifications. I stand to be corrected. Congratulations again for the job well done. It's really amazing that, in spite of your kalokohan during our high days, you had changed, which resulted to be a well-accomplished-father. Eka nga - huli man daw at magaling, maihahabol din.

Elsa, thanks for enjoying my e-mail. I called yesterday, 05/03/07, Ms. Flor Medina. By the way, the area code is already 626. It was a very polite conversation, biro mo - hino HO niya ako (Pinoy talaga-magalang). I found out that she is my mother's cousin. She addressed my mother and my mother's siblings - Ate & Kuya. According to her, she received your invitation, and I invited her too, but she may not be able to attend our reunion. She is scheduled to go home (Phils) this August 2007. She is not allowed to take vacation twice a year. She asked me if there's anything she could be of help. I personally said "No", unless our batch would like to. I also tried to search for the telephone #s of Henry Garcia, Josefino (Boy) Villalobos, Rosalinda Villanueva & Araceli Martinez Natividad, but they are all unlisted. So I mailed to them postcards, wherein I informed them of our reunion. I also advised them that they can view our batchmates, BWHS65, through Yahoo. However, I didn't give our UserID and Password since the postcard is an open mail. I told them that they can contact me via my e-mail address and/or they can call me, and I will give them the information. I hope that they will be responsive.

Ray, your suggestion is great. With your talent, the presentation of the "BWHS65 The Past and Present" will make our gathering very lively. But, are we not going to consider the place and time? The resort is open, and it's daytime. Anyway, if there's a wheel, there's a way - at nand'yan ka - may solution. Thanks.

Fred, thanks for the e-mail that you forwarded. It's informative especially that I am one of those who's prone to such kind of health disorder. Aside from being a diabetic, I have a high blood pressure & high bad cholesterol. It may be because of my eating habits, and maybe it's in my genes. My father died at the 1st stroke of the heart attack. while my mother, who is still alive, is a diabetic. Because of those disorders, I have lots of consultations & medications (magastos). S'ya nga pala, where you able to find the old picture. Please send it even if I'm the only one naked.

I also appreciate Imelda's suggestions. Our reunion will also be a multi-convention. It will be educational, at baka puwedeng maka earned pa tayo nang credits for the CPE (joke lang po). I know there will be lots of speakers like, Sonny who can share to us his expertise in banking & investment fields. Sa health naman, mayroon tayong Felipe, Pulmonary & Internal Medicine, Nani at Imelda, Psychiatrist. Let's do it.

Leeland, thanks for your assistance in populating the script/description on our PhotoAlbum. As you had stated, I hope we didn't offend anyone. If we did, we apologize. It's only our desires to make the Album enjoyable to view, even we play it repeatedly. If our batchmates would like to edit the script, please don't hesitate to do it. More ideas, more fun.

I'm calling France's attention. Please send those old pictures so they will be included on the album and on the presentation to be made by Ray.

Regards, and have a blessful weekend.

Hi Danny!

I pray that you and your loved ones are wholesomely blessed. It's really been a long time - almost 42 years that most of us have not seen each other. With that span of time, and due to lack of communication then - most of us didn't know what had happened to our classmates/batchmates. Thanks to the development of the advance technology i.e. cel.phone & internet, we are able to instantly communicate with one another. Please be informed that our batch "BWHS65" are in constant communication with each other, which makes us closer to everyone. In one of our e-mails, I felt sad to learn that some of our classmates/batchmates are already with the Lord, to name some - Juanito Magsumbol, Reynaldo Dimailig, Nolasco Sarsuelas, Francia Lota Atienza and Emperiatriz Guerrero. In one of the e-mails, Rosauro Napa even mentioned that he is very eager to see his crush "Emperiatriz", but Lina Bendena Cabaniero told me that Emperiatriz passed away several years ago. Like Rosauro, I also was saddened to learn about it, so I made an overseas call to Wenona who confirmed it - that she (Emperiatriz) met a very tragic death at a very young age, probably two (2) years after we graduated from high school.

As you know, we are not getting any younger - so it's about time that we must see each other, and have fun the way we used to do during our high school days. Though we have lots of experiences, bad and good, after we left BWHS premises, it's part of our God-given-destiny. I thank our Almighty God for those things, especially the bad ones, because they (bad) made me strong, and gave me confidence, to face it wholeheartedly. For me, the most important things in life is that I am still alive - so I always thank God for that wonderful blessing.

I am counting on you to be part of our happenings. See you there.

Regards, and take care.

Hi, Tony! Lina called me up and said you were calling me several times but you were not able to contact me. I am not in the house most of the time. Even if I bring my cell phone with me, I place it on silent mode when I am in the clinic, when I am in court hearings and when I attend meetings. So most of the calls are registered as missed calls. There were days that I go home late at night especially before the induction of the Bats. Medical Society. It took place last June 8. I was a choir and dance (tango) participant and we stayed until late in the evening for the practice.

I read all the emails, some of them amusing and entertaining. I went over now for amost an hour to review all the suggestions regarding our reunion. Thanks to you and to all our classmates for the enthusiasm and bright ideas.

Going to the ID as Elsa suggested, we did it when we had the reunion last December. I prepared an envelope with the Personal Data Sheet, pad papers, ballpen and ID. I had been in the Organizing Committee of our psychiatric association for several terms so I learned what to prepare during meetings and conventions. The ID though during our reunion was not computerized. It would be nice if we have a computer to prepare the ID as the participants come. We do it in our conventions. I will see if I will be able to borrow/rent a computer with the printer which we can bring to the venue. To have our photos in the button ID as Elsa suggested needs a machine. It would be nice but it is expensive. Booths of drug companies do it during our conventions. I will ask them about it. For married women, we placed both the maiden and the married names.

Fred's suggestion to announce the participants as they come is commendable. During last year's reunion, there was a number in which all the participants were introduced one by one and given a chance to say something - their past, present, future, etc.

I have the list of Batch 1965, both by section and by alphabetical order.I have also the contact numbers of some of them. It is in my computer at home. Right now I am typing in an office here in the hospital so I cannot send it with this email.

We will have a meeting on July 21 and I will bring up all your suggestions/comments/ideas. We will talk about the three day affair and what activities we will do on those days. We can have short lectures in one of those days - spiritual, medical, financial, inspirational, culinary and, what have you. We will learn from each other. Fred suggested that there be dance numbers during the program. He is willing to give a number, a folk dance. I will give a dance number too, a medley of ballroom dances - chacha, tango, boogie, swing. I will look for a partner from our classmates. If I cannot find one, then I will dance with a DI (dance instructor).

I will draft the letter of invitation to be presented for approval during the meeting. I will email it to you too.

I opened our email address but I could not access the photos. I think only Leland can do it.I have pictures of our high school days, but mostly of my peer group - the VIMPCEFF, taken from the first letters of our names - Veneranda, Imelda, Marcelina, Purificacion, Carolina, Emeteria/Estela, Francisca and Francia. Us girls in our section have different groups; there is the DCELF (Danny, Clavel, Estela, Leila, Francia; naligaw sa group na ito si Danny) and Pilar's group which I forgot the acronym. I have a list in one of my notebooks in high school of the songs popular during that time. I will look for a tape/CD which contain those songs which we can play during our reunion.

Elsa's suggestion to have an advertisement in a local newspaper will cost us much. It has to be in a newspaper with nationwide circulation. I will find out how much it will cost. When she attended the reunion in 1997, she gave gifts. I remember I was given a handheld radio and a calculator. What you people abroad will bring to our reunion, we can use it as raffle prizes. It is up to you if you want to give them as 'pasalubongs' to your special classmates and friends. In our reunion last December, the organizing committee brought each a raffle prize and prizes for games.

I read yours, Leland's and Rosauro's letters to Danny. I hope he will be convinced this time to attend our reunion. I will spend time having a one to one talk with him when I go to Lemery. After our meeting, we will start again going around Lemery and the neighboring towns to invite our batchmates. We did it last year; twice pa nga na muntik ng makagat ng aso ang apo ko while going inside the yards of our batchmates. I do not have a yaya so I always tag him along.

WoWoWee will be there next month. I hope you can announce our reunion in their show there. On our part here, we will see how we can air it in TV without spending anything.

About Nene (Emperatriz Guerrero's nickname), she died in 1975. I remember it very well because I was then in my first year psychiatric residency in Mandaluyong. She was stabbed by an unknown assailant in the CR of their office in the former Roman Cinerama building. The case was not solved. I will check Miguel Malabanan in my list - what section he is and from what town he comes from so we can contact him. Sad to learn about his wife's fate. I have Eva Morales-Rodriguez present address and contact numbers. My address book is at home. I will email it to you next time. She is my relative and I met her the first day I was in LA last April.

Best regards! Last but not least, all the good wishes on your natal day! May you have 50 more of it, so you will live until 108 years old. Happy Birthday! God bless us all!

Hi Everyone!

As always, I thank our Almighty God for the many blessings He continuously showered unto us in spite of some shortcomings that we have committed against His Commandments. I also thank Him for the 58 years that He gave me, and I pray that He will give me 50 more years (as Imelda's wish), so I can attend more reunions even if I already a regular customer of Huggies (diaper brand).

Imelda, thanks for your long e-mail, which summarized your response to all of our e-mails. All suggestions that we brought out are up to our Officers, Committee members & batchmates out there (Phils) to decide which are best fitted for our reunion. With regards to our website - www.geocities.com/bwhs65 - to access on the links you have to enter on the User ID BWHS65, and the Password BWHS65 (take note - it's all capital letters). Double click the link that you want. For the photo, if you want that the photo be shown continuously and bigger, click the slideshow. If you want the photo to be shown one at a time so you can read the captions - click the double bar, which is located between the left and right arrows. To go to the next picture, click the right arrow or vice versa.

Honestly, I am not a good dancer that's why my wife and I are always not in good term whenever we attended parties. I only dance the sweet (cheek to cheek), which shows my romantic attitude. She likes to dance the tango, boogie & cha-cha. She taught me several times, but my feet are both left that sometimes I stepped on her feet, so she gave up. I know how to dance the Twist, jerk, and my favorite "The Maskipop".

In your meeting, please don't forget to include in our program the "Revelation time". It's all about our crush that some of us, like me for instance, don't have the courage to express my secret feelings to the "Apple of my Eyes" because of shyness, timidness and/or whatever attitude I had then. This revelation time is like a relay game and it is also a contest game wherein there will be winners - 1st, 2nd & 3rd. The winners will receive their corresponding prizes. I'll explain to you the mechanics of this game if I have a chance to talk to you over the phone.

I spoke with Fred Dimailig last night, and he asked how we can send our contribution. As you know, I left several messages to Pilar, via the cel # that she uses, but she never return my calls. Knowing that she is our Treasurer, I just want to know from her (to whom, the Bank, the routing #, account #, etc). If you know all those informations, please let us know so we could send our contributions the earliest possible time.

Ross, thanks for your greetings. You're right - we were opposite regarding those kalokohan. However, we have the same final result - GOOD BOY.

France, thanks for your greetings. It's always nice to be in touch with you over the phone.

Batchmates, I am happy to inform you that I had a long and wholesome conversation with Danny last night. Just like our other batchmates to whom I spoke to before we (Danny & I) reminisce our high school days, and tried to recall all our classmates/batchmates. Our conversation was full of laughters especially when I mentioned to him Billy Bilale. I think we have to locate and invite Billy. He received all e-mails that we sent to him through the courtesy of my sister, and he is very thankful for our concern. He is reading our emails over and over. He wasn't able to attend the past reunions because of the circumstances beyond his control. But this time, he is going to join us from Friday, 12/21/07 to 12/23/07.

I felt so bad that I might not be able to go to Chicago to personally talk to Willie, and l plug our Grand Reunion. Bullshit etong Comptroller namin, she wants me (last minute pa) to attend the seminar/workshop scheduled on July 5 to 13, 2007 in Orlando, Florida. She is supposed to be the one to attend the workshop, but because our Agency is under Compliance Audit right now, she is attending to the needs of our External Auditors, so she assigned me to attend instead.

Okay, my Manager is already here, and he is going to treat me for a lunch. 'Til my next e-mail.

Regards, and take care.

Dear Tony ,Leland ,Soro and all our batchmates whose e-mail addresses are included here

Anyway, we always reply to Tony and Leland and sometimes to Fred and Ray because they are the ones who take time to write. Lately, Elsa also were very effective with her "few liners" . Thanks to all of you who make our lives "more alive" again, but really, even if I cannot write often, I made sure I archive your emails aside from printing them. Lately also, Manolo has been actively writing.

Thanks also to all of you who take time to track our classmates/batchmates, Tony particularly, who even if he is in the States, has been very effective in locating "missing persons". He could be the modern day version of Sherlock Holmes. I feel guilty that being one of those " at home", I could not help much in looking for our still missing friends. At least I was able to tag Jessie de Leon. It is quite difficult for me being Mindanao-based.

Tony, it is almost the end of June and Pareng Boy "Johnny" Carolino has not yet gotten in touch with me, so I am not sure whether he was able to come to the country or not. I wish he has an email ad. I missed putting down his phone numbers.

I am not surprised that many would be looking for Billy "The Kid" Bilale, for he is such a colorful personality. His bosom friend and inseparable companion was Zardo. I wish we can have Billy with us in the reunion.

As I was reading the list of our batch provided by Imelda, I could not help but feel sorry to note how many of our friends have already left for the "Great Beyond", including Romy Sangalang?
I remember him to be a tall fellow, very sophisticated and popular with the girls and a great dancer.
And now, another guy, Luming Villalobos is also reported to have died already. How sad, we must really hurry with the reunion.

I still have to reply, although belatedly, to Lina Brotonel (Calderon) and Imelda, who both wrote me sometime ago. I am searching for their emails in my laptop so I can reply. I wish I can find more time to continue writing.

When I read Soro's letters, I could not help wondering whether that';s the way he learned to write ( in which case our English teachers, Ka Inggay, Ka Akoy and Ms. Aguilar must be rolling in their graves (pardon the pun), o talagang sinasadya niya yong style na yun, which is not easy. Then of course, memories start to come back like if Soro calls Leland "Beho", there was a time when Ato Pesigan would boast about how great his family name is ( PC - GUN), but Soro would say, " No, mine was better and has more meanings , like " Napa-upo," "Napa- higa", "Napa-utot" and so forth and so on. I don't know if Soro and Ato still remembers this, but I did, and it was really funny. When you think about " how mababaw" our happiness during those times were, one would wonder how we become what we are now now matter in what state of life we are. Ano nga ba tayo noon na hindi tayo ngayon? tama ba yon?

Till next mail, Friends.

Hi, everybody! A warm greetings to all of you!

The meeting was held in Bert (Liberato) Biscocho's house in Sta. Teresita, Batangas. We had the meeting in a casita in his yard fronting the swimming pool. He also took care of the sumptous lunch served during the meeting. Let me first tell you a brief background of Bert so you will be familiarized with him even before you meet him. He is in Section 3 during our high school days. He is a big businessman now with his own factory making religious items and other house decors. If you will visit his place, you may want to buy some of the items, with a special discount for us, his batchmates (this is not a paid advertisement, he, he, he). His place is worthseeing so you should come and see it when you are in Batangas.

Going to the meeting proper, 17 attended. I hope you remember them all. I will place the section to where they belonged for easy recall, not for anything else, lest I maybe accused of sectionalism. They are: Section 1 - Normilando "Nory" Lascano, Hermelito "Hermie" Atienza, Mario "Boy Mar" Rodriguez, Gloria "Glo" Estacio, Pilar Dela Luna-Cortiñas, Wenona "Weny" Umali-Banawa, Waldy Dela Luna-Diokno and yours truly; Section 2 - the couple Edmundo "Ed" Moredo and Honorata "Norie" Punzalan-Moredo, Section 3 - Liberato "Bert" Biscocho, Section 4 - Paciencia "Pacing" Mendoza-Durango, Section 5 - Gerardo "Gerry" Picazo and Iluminada Vito-Balboa, Voc. Course - Crisostomo "Cris" Punzalan, Eugenio "Jhun" Salarda and Lavinia "Lavin" Calangi-De Guzman. Complete yan with the nicknames and the married names.

The date agreed upon was on December 22 (Sat) and 23 (Sun) 2007, whole day affair. Venue is in Casa Corazon in Sinisian West, Lemery, Batangas. Other suggested places were BWHS open court and Casa Cecilia in Taal. Casa Corazon was the choice of the group for the ff. reasons: it is a nice place overlooking Balayan Bay, the function room is aircon, it lhas cottages and swimming pool, videoke. Those who may want to swim at Balayan Bay, they have also a place there near the bay. If other family members will come with us, they can do other activities in the place unlike in the other two places suggested. There is no restaurant in Casa Corazon so our food will be catered. We can bring chichirya, drinks and other foods we like to bring.

Weny already asked for the price of the place. It is Php6,000.00 per day for the use of the function rooms and 1,500 for the videoke. We will ask Weny to ask for the cost of the cottages.

The committees created are the following:
1. Ways and Means:
Chair: Apolonio Lacerna
Membetrs: Manolo Carandang and Bert Biscocho
2. Physical Arrangement:
Chair: Daniel Holgado
Members: Nory Lascano, Maximo Atienza, Pacing Durango, Ada
Vito, Weny Umali, Jhun Salarda and Cris Punzalan. 3. Program: (this will include registration, games and raffles)
Chair: Imelda Martin
Members: Lina Cabaneiro, Arturo Boa, Gloria Estacio and Ray
Baldoz. Waldy Diokno is in charge of the registration.
4. Food:
Chair: Nory Moredo
Members: Lavinia De Guzman, Pilar Cortinas and Ed Moredo

Ray Baldoz was assigned by the President as Photo Editor and Gado for the video film; Imelda to email the proceedings of the meetings (eto na nga yon), and Pilar, Lavin and Ada for the streamers and permit to be able to place the streamers in the streets of Lemery. I suggested that the streamers be placed before the fiesta in Lemery, Aug. 16; to place one in the entry to Lemery from Taal and the other one coming from the diversion road, before the Batangas Provincial Hospital in Lemery. The streamer will read: BWHS Class 1965 Grand Reunion December 22 and 23, 2007, Casa Corazon, Sinisian West, Lemery, Batangas. Contact persons: Mario Rodriguez - 09193636580; Waldly Diokno - 09282320797.

Pilar reported Elsa gave US$100 for our fund when they met in USA. From all of us here, thank you, Elsa.

The financial report done by the auditor, Norie Moredo was circulated. Ate Norie was the one who prepared it because the treasurer, Pilar, was in USA and she could not prepare it in time for the meeting. The money in the bank is PhP32,586.65. During the reunion last December 17, 2006, 37 gave registration fee of Php500, 25 gave contributions of varying amounts, the total is 50, 920.00 with expenses of 18,969.00 for the last reunion. The cash of US$75 which Leila gave Pilar during her previous trip to USA is already included in the contribution. Elsa's $100 is not yet included.

During the meeting, I mentioned all your emails pertaining to our reunion.

The next meeting will be in September, on Francia's first death anniversary. Hermie Atienza will host it.

If you have any queries, suggestions, opinions, comments regarding the minutes I wrote above and about our reunion, please email it to me. Thank you. All your concerns will add to the success of our activity.

Mabuhay tayong lahat! Ako pa rin,

Imee

Imelda,

Thank you for the report on your meeting of July 21st. I'm glad that inspite of the small attendance there was a good representation of different sections, and for that I congratulate you all for your efforts. Our special thanks to Bert Biscocho for providing the venue for the meeting. To tell you the truth, I can't remember him, but I'm sure I would recognized him once I see him at the reunion.

Now that we have decided on the venue for the reunion, we should now focus on how we are going to get our batchmates there. First and foremost, is to get a reservation for the place. to ensure we will have the place on those dates.

Secondly, will you please ask somebody to make a sketch of how to get there, starting from BWHS compound. I, for one don't know where is Sinisian is. A simple sketch will do, something we can send with the invitation. I suggest that we rent a jeep at the day of the reunion to pick up some of our batchmates at the BWHS compound, for those who don't have any transportation.

The next thing we need is an estimation of how much we need for the major expenses, like the function room, videoke, transportation, foods, stc. This way we have an idea of how much fund we need to raise for the reunion.

I'm glad that we will have 2 full days of get together, because I'm afraid one day is just isn't enough to talk to everybody considering we haven't seen each other for 42 years. As a matter of fact it will be a good idea to have a little meeting over a cup of coffee on Friday afternoon for those who can attend, especially the officers and committee members. This is for last minute preparation to ensure everything is in place on the day of the reunion. What do you think? I know some of you are too busy in your rewspective jobs there and I know it is not easy to get away on a Friday afternoon, but perhaps for once in 42 years we can make an exception (?)

Amnyway, that's all in my thoughts right now. Thank you all again for your efforts in the meeting.

Attached is a darft for the invitation. You're free to change the format or anything you think is fit.

Regards,
Leland

Hello everybody! Here is the update of our meeting yesterday after the prayers for the first death anniversary of Francia.

Manolo already stated about the attendance. Those spouses who were there were those of Pilar (her husband is also from BWHS, ahead of us), Marcelina (everybody knows Atty. Nic Cabaneiro), Wilson (Fe De Leon who is also from BWHS, ahead of us), Apolonio (his wife is the sister of the then military renegade, Victor Corpuz), Mario ( his wife is a teacher in Taal and always our gracious hostess).

I showed them the letter of invitation which I downloaded from Leland's email. I changed the Class reunion to Grand Reunion and I placed the tel. nos. of Mario, Waldy and Pilar ( the holder of the three key positions in the organizing commitee - president, secretary and treasurer). I did not place my number anymore.

All your suggestions is taken into consideration. For the food, definitely there will be kalderetang kambing. Batangueños' occasion is not complete without it, as lechon is to the Cebuanos. We will 'harass' Arthur Boa to bring lechon (as he did during the reunion in 1977 and last year). He has a piggery and poultry so it is 'chicken' for him. Sinaing na tulingan and pinais na dulong will be included. I think the meal is complete with the foods I mentioned, plus of course, vegetables and more fruits. With our age, we cannot eat that much anymore. Our digestive systems are not as active as during our younger years. Aminin!

With regards the poster, we have already placed two before the Lemery town fiesta last August 16, one at the bridge entering Lemery from Taal and the other, near the Lemery Provincial Hospital in Palanas coming from Bucal. Yes, we will place two more, at the BWHS compound and the venue. Thank you for your reminder.

The program will be prepared by Glo Estacio, our school supervisor. Last year she made an acronym of the program REUNION:

R - evere God through prayer
E- xpress one's love of country through the singing of the National Anthem
U - nfold the business of the day
N - urture the words of welcome
I - ntensify the gathering through inspiring messages
O - verwhelm with intermission numbers
N - udge everyone with the introduction of each member of Batch '65.

Ano'ng say nyo? Galing, ano? For this year, she said she will add GRAND to the REUNION. Ray Baldoz had it printed artistically last year. We will ask him to do the same for this year. He was also the one who provided the car posters. It was very kind of him, plus his giveaways of calendars and umbrellas. Ray, we miss you in the meetings. Attend ka naman next time.

For the two day program, the group agreed on the following:

Dec. 22, 2007

8:00am - Holy Mass at the Lemery Parish Church
9:00am - 11:00am Visit to BWHS
11:00am - Motorcade to the venue
12:00nn - Lunch
1:00pm onwards - Chikahan and introduction (short and long speeches) of the attendees; getting to know each other again.

Dec. 23, 2007

Program proper, with the acronym GRAND REUNION Games, raffles

Everybody is enjoined to present a number - song, dance, reciting a poem, ballad, etc, jokes, special talents - magic, yoga headstand, whatever one can do. We will explore the hidden talents we did not know existed even during our teenage years.

Tony, your suggestion of video coverage of arrival at NAIA is nice. Perhaps those who will arrive can take their own videos at the airport and we will include them when we do the video editing of the whole occasion. I mentioned to them all your dates of arrival. You are the earliest bird, Tony. Surely you will make the most of your holiday here. How about the others? We hope all of you can come. We are excited to see you.

What project/s our batch will undertake was discussed. Foremost is the help we can extend to our batchmates, if any needs medical assistance or financial assistance for education of their children. We were not able to identify who among our batchmates need it but surely during our reunion names will crop up. When we tour BWHS, we will also be able to see what help we can give our alma mater.

Leland, we thank you for opening again a photo album for our batch. I will add pictures to it. Watch for it!

Regarding the red wine, you can buy them at the Duty Free here so that you will not have to worry carrying them throughout your travel. They suggested even the 'pulutan' ay iyong imported (colonial mentality pa rin tayo!). I made a remark that the local pulutan is better. Wenona, our 'lukayo' said she wants "Picazo, yong imported na nut, for pulutan. It so happened Gerry Picazo was in the meeting. Nagtaka siya what is the nut called Picazo. 'Weny pala is referring to 'pistacchio.'

Our next meeting is on October 28, lunchtime, in Mario's house. Our President is always very generous to offer his place and lunch for free.

Please add Estela Arboleda-Dela Cruz and Gerardo's email addresses in your address books.

Again your suggestions/comments/opinions will be welcomed. All of us sharing our thoughts will add to the success of our reunion.

I read all your emails and exchange of opinions. Sorry, I can't reply at once. When I reply, 'nobela' naman like this one.

Best regards to all of you! God bless us all!

Ako pa rin,

Imee

Hi Imelda & Everyone!

Thanks for your long e-mail updating us with what transpired to your meeting. Ikaw pa rin ang aming pangbato - our Editor-in-Chief of the "Pansipit Courier".

I would like to welcome Estela into the loop. I suggest to her (Estela) to visit our website - www.flickr.com/photos/bwhs65/ I would like to ask for an apology if my/our comment(s) to some of the pictures posted therein (is)are offending. My (our) intention(s) is (are) to make our photos more lively, and not boring.

With regards to the food, don't forget the "ATCHARA". Without it, Fred's coming home will not be complete. Also, please tell Arthur to put "MANGANG HILAW" into the mouth of lechon, instead of apple. I know mango is out of the season, but I think there are still some out there. Naglilihi kasi ang Mrs. ko (joke only). The mangoes available here is not as good as the Phil. mangoes. We have Manila mangoes here, but they come from Mexico - kaya lasang Mexicano (no bueno).

Last night, around 7:30 PM, I was telephatically disturbed by Wenona. While I was ironing my clothes (wala kasi dito sa Illinois ang Mrs. ko), Weny suddenly flashed into my mind. At that time pala, she was also thinking and hoping that I will call her. We had a long and wholesome conversation, and one of those things that we talked about was "Picazo" that she mentioned during the meeting. I promised to her that I'll bring "Pistacchio" and some mixed nuts. She wants to extend her regards to all of us, especially to her comadre "Elsa"

Zorro, limang tulog na lang at "bong tarat tarat, bong tarat tarat, tararat, tararat, bong, bong, bong" You know, my 4 years old apo, Kayla, in San Diego, knows how to, and memorize pa niya ang "shake it to the right, shake it to the left, point to the east and point to the west, come on baby,.............magaling siyang magshake ng balikat niya (mana sa grandma niya). I wishing you good luck.

REgards, and have a pleasant day;

HELLLLOOOOO EVERYONE!!!!!!

First of all, thanks so much Imee and all the committee members for all your efforts to bring together our group. If not for your initiative and patience who would ever think that we could still be aware of our classmates' whereabouts after 42 years!!! It's fantastic! Am really overwhelmed.

Mukhang kahit sa internet e maingay pa rin ang batch natin ah as commented before during our high school days. Those were the days that I miss a lot, hi-hi-hi... Mga pasaway!!!! But now, look who's talking!

My apologies for late opening of my mails. Quite busy when you're at home. Am now in Salawag, Dasmarinas, Cavite where we currently reside. Been here since Sept 30 and will be back to Malaysia this Sunday Oct 14.

As for our class reunion which I would like very much to attend, am still uncertain of my husband's home leave which cannot be planned so early. Of course I have to follow his timetable as am just a plain good housewife. But rest assured I'll be there if am back on time.

At the moment I cannot commit anything for the reunion but am willing to send through my daughters any monetary donation for our group's project.

Ta-ta!!! Cheers to all!!!

Hi, classmates!

> I read your exchange of emails and I am amused especially with the letter of Ross which is like a text message. I watched Wowowie last Saturday and was waiting for Ross to be focused. I got something from my room for a while and when I came back Ross was already doing the Boom Tarat Tarat. I heard him saying Batangas. I did not see the poster he said he will bring to the program announcing our reunion because I was not watching when he was called to perform. We can show a copy of that program highlighting on Ross' participation during our reunion. If you are a TFC subscriber abroad, you can get a pass in entering that show here when you come home.

Barbecued fish and vegetable is fine rather than meat also since we have already kaldereta and lechon. We will talk the details on food in our next meeting. Any more suggestions for the meals, merienda, pulutan?

I mailed 50 invitation letters today to our batchmates, those whose addresses we are sure; at least there is a barangay and not just the town. In our high school commencement exercises program, only the town is written opposite the name of the graduate, so we cannot send letters to all. Other letters will be delivered personally by those who know the whereabouts of our batchmates. I sent one to Leila because she has no email address. Tony, can you send me the address of Rey Carnero so I can mail an invitation letter to him too? If you have also the addresses there of our other batchmates who have no email addresses, please email them to me.

Others have not yet scheduled their dates of arrival - Elsa, France, Baby de Villa, Leonardo, Yolanda. We hope all of you can make it. Poling and Vida said as early as the first quarter of this year that they could not make it. I hope they will still change their plans and will be able to come. France, I thought you can come even for a week holiday and will be able to spend Christmas here. It is one of the reasons why we moved the date from December 15 to 22, so that those who will stay here for a week only will still be able to spend Christmas here.

Estela was here last week but I got her text late. I was not able to talk to her. She said she was already leaving for Malaysia yesterday. She is not sure if she can come home again for our reunion. I also sent her an invitation letter.

Souvenirs from abroad? Key chains are very practical to bring and give as 'pasalubong'. It is light in the baggage and everybody uses it. Regarding ballpens and samples of medicine, can we ask Felipe and Rey to bring them? In the reunion last year, the ballpens and pads I placed inside the envelopes were giveaways from the drug companies. I will do the same for our coming reunion. I will also bring other giveaways from the pharmas.

We will still talk about the contribution (for those who can give) for the reunion in the next meeting. They said there are some asking about our account number so they can transfer their contributions. I will get it from Pilar and I will email it next time.

Manolo, I am sure your kaldereta will taste very good since it is a specialty of the Batanguenos. But you know, the kaldereta here in Batangas City is not the same as the kaldereta from the western part of Batangas.

Tony, your countdown reminds us how near Christmas is as well as our reunion. Send my regards to Mrs. Aro. We mentioned in our meeting our teachers whom we will invite. I told them Mrs. Aro is there near your place.

Ray, how are you? Haven't heard from you. Please come to our next meeting on October 28, lunchtime, in Mario's house.

Gado, please post the pictures during our reunion last Dec. in the email address I gave you. Thanks!

Warm regards to all! God bless!

Imee, bilib na ako sayo!!!! You're busy as a bee and yet you can still manage all these!

After reading your novel most especially the preparation of food part, nawawala yata ang fruits which i think everybody who has been abroad for so long misses a lot. I suggest that all kinds of fruits that are in season be served to enjoy. I think Normilando Lascano can do that part coz he's the owner of Lemery Market place, he-he-he. Joke lang.... Kasi sya naman ang malapit sa palengke kaya he's the most suitable person for the preparation.

Last meeting nyo, on the way home pa lang ako. Next naman nakaalis na ako. At any rate, keep me posted na lang. I can just imagine our reunion would be very grand.

Worst come to worse promise to post all reunion pictures ha! I really hope to attend this gathering.

Please note that email of Daniel Holgado seems not active anymore coz I received a failure notice on that.

Till next issue mis amigos!!!

Hi Estela!

It's nice to hear from you again after soooooooooooo long - just imagine 42 years & 6 months na pala 'yon. How fast the time flies that everytime I looked at myself at the mirror I am no longer the young man who played the kite (boka boka) because of the countless wrinkles on my face. Do you still remember that day (probably couples of days after our graduation) when you went to Leila's house at Ilustre Ave, and you saw me playing the boka boka at our backyard. I can't forget it because of your comment "Ay, naglalaro ang bata". I can't blame you for saying that - imagine a 15 years old guy playing boka boka, hindi bali kung saringola, batang isip talaga, eh.

As I always mentioned in my previous e-mails, we are not getting any younger. When are we going to hold our reunion - when we are already sitting on the wheelchair - when we can't recognize each other anymore, and when we can't recall those sweet memories of our high school days? But because of the initiatives and tireless efforts of our classmates and batchmates out there in the Phils. (they, too, deserve the "Takdang Araling" award) our reunion will materialize this Dec. 22 & 23, 2007. I, personally, encourage you to try your best to come. Be a part of the occasion. Otherwise, you will be missing a lot. You see your husband everyday (how many years have been married na ba?), but you haven't seen most of your classmates and batchmates for more than 42 years, so don't follow your husband's timetable for the time being. Being a plain housewife, as you had stated, you have all the time to attend. Besides, Malaysia is too close to the Phils. as compared to where we (Lina Brotonel Calderon, Fred Dimailig, Leland de las Alas and me) live in North America. However, if you really can't make it this December, there will always be next time (probably after 3 years). Please don't be mad with me - the above is only a suggestion.

By the way, did you ever visit our website? Please do so - your pictures during our high school days and during the batch meeting held on June 2006 were posted in our PhotoAlbum. Again, my apology if some of the comments on the photos offended you. Lambing lang 'yon ng kaklase mo. As we are updating our website directory, please provide us with the following information:
1. Complete address in the Phils & Malaysia
2. Contact #s (landline - Phils & Malaysia & cel #)
3. Number of children & grandchildren, if any.

Please extend my regards to your loved ones.

We hope to hear from you again.

Take care, and have a good day.

As always,

Wow, you've changed a lot... from the quiet type to a more aggressive one as can be seen in your emails. That's great... The more I wish to see you and have a good look at you.

What you've said is true. Now is the time to hold the reunion when we can still have a good chat with each other and enjoy each other's company. Maybe we may not recognize each other at once due to the changes brought by time which is inevitable. I have plenty of wrinkles too and on the heavy side, he-he-he. Sarap kasi kumain... Hello there, Estella,

Welcome to the club! Where have you been?

Do you know that the Batchmates have been in contact with each other for well over a year now? Well, it started out with just Tony - then it grows little by little in time, and as you can see in our addresses above we are now about 20 strong participants in this crusade - BWHS Class of 1965 Grand Reunion.

So I'm sorry to say you have missed a lot e-mails, phone calls and letters over the year. But not to worry, most of them are captured in our website, "About Us" under Batchmates Comments. We didn't put every comment in there because we were afraid we may run out of space if we did. Our website is for free and we have only limited space. But the most important comments are there. You may review them in your own leisure.

Estela, if I remember right, the last time we saw each other was in December 1996. Do you remember that you, Imelda and I met at Carolina Cauntay's (Nainngge) house on that day where we were busy preparing for Butong's annual Dalampasigan Club Dance Party? I almost forgotten what you look like until I saw your photos at the BWHS meeting in Mario's house. You have changed since the last time I saw you.

So you live in Malaysia now. It's a very nice country, I really like it. I was there 2 months ago for 5 days (Aug 24 to Aug 28) with my officemates in Toronto for job recruitment trip. We stayed at Shangri-La Hotel in Kuala Lumpur where we conducted our interviews. Most applicants were Filipinos and we made job offers to 4 or 5 applicants there.

We did a city tour of Kuala Lumpur and the state of Malacca during our leisure time. I was really impressed how Mlaysia has progressed over the years. I was expecting that it would be like Manila, but I was suprised how nice and clean the whole country is, a lot better than greater Manila.

Back to our reunion, we will really going to be pleased if you can make it. This is one in a lifetime opporunity for all of us. I wish we had this reunion years and years ago, but I guess nobody has come up with the idea until now. I hope this won't be our last, but nobody can tell, so why not do it when we get the chance.

'Hope to hear more from you,

Regards,
Leland De Las Alas

Hi Leland!

Nice to hear from you. Where have I been? Been to Malaysia all these years since 1993. O, you spelled my name wrongly. Di ako ma-'L'. (Ooops.... Umandar yata ang green mind mo.) One 'L' in my name is enough.

Sayang... If only we had communicated earlier I could have brought you to scenic spots in Malaysia. You didn't mention Genting Highlands in the places you've visited. That's my favorite place. Aside from being cold up there (like Baguio once in a while with 5,500 ft elevation), within the premises are indoor and outdoor theme parks for kids but the important highlight for adults is their casino with variety of games to choose from.

So you're a computer wizard, i heard... And you said you went to Malaysia to interview applicants. Maybe you have a slot in your company for my daughter who is currently a computer programmer with 1-1/2 yrs experience using java program. She's a commerce graduate major in economics and took computer programming after graduation while employed. She's 27yrs old. Can I expect to hear more on this from you soon? Thanks a lot in advance.

Note: O, dun naman sa mga doctor nating ka-batch, my other daughter is a medical transcriptionist and would love to work at home rather than travel the busy streets of Manila.... You might need her services. Just contact me and will advise her soonest. She resigned from her previous job coz of the distant travel to and from Cavite not to mention the time schedule of her job.

Actually, I have 3 children... my eldest being an Electrical Engineer. He's currently based in Singapore with ABB but sent to different branches of their company to do commissioning works. He's now in Spain.

Back to reunion.... I can figure out how excited you guys are to be back home and be with the group. Ang saya siguro!!! Am keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be there to witness the big event.

Tired of reading my novel? Ok... till the next issue.

GOD BLESS!

Dear Tony and everyone,

Thanks for the steady stream of emails from you guys , this makes me sorry and guilty as well that I have not been very prolific with the email lately. Been busy - our Bank, Banco de Oro, or simply BDO has recently acquired EPCI Bank ( which catapulted it to No. 2 in the country, very close to No. 1 Metrobank), and we are in the thick of conversion and consolidation process. I am presently handling Northern Mindanao Branches as Vice President and Area Head and I have to travel to the branches and to Head Office in Makati almost every two weeks. But this will normalize later, hopefully not for long.

I will be sending some family pictures later. I have a handsome son who may someday be able to meet the beautiful daughter of Ato Pesigan. My son Francis, our youngest is going to California on November 9th, and will stay with my brother Nap at Norwalk and with another brother , Noli, at Corona.

Anyway, I will really miss Pareng Boy Carolino. You know , we were really quite close since first year because we were both from the barrios ( I from Coral na Munti and Boy from Payapa) and I think we made it to the first section because we both graduated Salutatorian in our respective elementary schools. I also had a cousin who married his older brother. I don't know how we got close to Joey Sison, but very early enough, the three of us were inseparables. I remember we used to eat in their place. I wish I can see Joey again, have not seen him since graduation. Any news from the committees re Joey?

When Boy was still in the Philippines, I get to see him once in a while, but not very often. He went to the States long time ago. When my wife and I were in the States, luckily, we were able to see him and he brought us around including a ballroom dancing session with some FilAms. Of course, he was still alone in the States , then, so maraming kilalang chicks. Guwapo naman talaga ang kumpare ko, and it is very evident in the picture that he posted in the email.

Anyway, just to whet your appetite for the "chismis" of long ago and to validate your lingering suspicion, Magna Fe Alcantara was Boy's girlfriend then, and if Joey and I braved the "baha", it is for the love and concern for our good friend.I hope somebody can contact Magna Fe to join the reunion.

Thanks again , Tony, for constantly writing, same with Leland. Imelda, thanks for the update, and for keeping the fire burning. I was so happy to receive your updates on the pre-reunion meetings, and I am just sorry that whenever I go to Manila, I could not join you because most often it is just a one or two day very busy meetings. I seldom go home to the barrio na rin, because I get to see the old folks once in a while in Manila, and I don't have a car in Manila. I will write longer later. Imelda, if you see Arthur Boa, please give him my regards, too. I had the chance to visit him some time ago in San Jose and he gave me a tour of his very progressive poultry business.

Manolo, I am keeping track of your exciting emails, also, and will write you later,. Maybe you don't remember, but we joined PNB ( myfirst bank , then Republic Planters, Land Bank, Solidbank, and now BDO) almoist the same time, but it's good that you stayed put, unlike me who transferred from bank to bank). I also came to know Senator Tatad, your bayaw, personally when he became Guest Speaker in our Rotary Meeting here in Cagaytan de Oro,and also, my Ninang Amor from San Luis I think was married to one of your uncles or close relative. Please update me, but I will write you sometime later.

Fred (Pido), I remembered you last night because I glimpsed at the TV about a feature of a festival in Calaca called "Calacachara". Talagang masarap siguro and achara sa Calaca, Anyway, we will have a taste of this achara during the reunion. I also agree with the Committee's choice of menu, as indicated in Imelda's email, mostly native Batangas menu, which you, Leland, Tony , Felipe and the rest of the "Norteamericanos" have been missing for a long time. I hope there are still fruits from Mindanao which I can bring because the season for lanzones, magosteen, durian and marang has already started and normally it dwindles towards late December. But I will still do my best to bring whatever I can from down south.See you, Fred.

Haven't heard from France ( Francisca Malabanan) lately. Tony , let's wake her up and tell her to continue writing us. Mukhang malaking katuwaan ito at kaguluhan during revelation time sa reunion and actually this is my greatest fear. Di bale na lang, I will just reveal the love stories of some of them.

It's getting late, may pasok na naman bukas. Will continue writing next time. Thanks and regards to everyone,

Sonny

Hi everyone!!!!!

It will be too time consuming if iisa-isahin ko kayong lahat. Am not that lazy in sending emails but I just hope you'll understand a busy 'good' (he-he)housewife like me. We just came back from my husband's (joe) workplace today which is 2hrs drive from where we are staying now. It's very seldom that I can go through my mails during weekdays as the signal in the hotel where we are staying is very weak. So, just bear with me if i can only join the chit-chats in the weekends. Anyway, I can always go through all the mails as long as am included in the cc.

First and foremost, thanks so much Tony for your card. Just got it today together with Imee's invitation for the reunion when we reached home. (Hope you received my reply to your sms when i was still in Cavite). Actually, it was my hubby who read it first coz he was the one who collected our mails from the mailbox and was a bit surprised to see a card from Chicago. (a bit curious... eh). I could feel your excitement for the reunion to happen whenever i read your mails. And i think, you're the most informed of our batchmates' whereabouts and BWHS'65 data bank aside from Imee. That's something, eh!!!

Leland, thanks for the info about your hiring needs. Should there be any opportunity in the future that would fit my daughter's qualification, kindly inform me soonest.

Ala eh, talaga namang di pahuhuli ang mga taga-batangas as represented by Zorro sa wowowee. Maybe whoever has the copy of the DVD should bring it over to the reunion for public viewing. Sad to say we don't have the Filipino channel here in Malaysia though there are times that Filipino movies are shown once in a while.

Sonny, nice of you to break the ice though you seem so busy with your job. Do find time to relax.

As per Tony's news from the grapevine, di ko na pala kayang ma-reach si Felipe or Philip!!!! Am scared di na nya ako makikilala when the time to meet him comes. Kudos, mi amigo, to all your achievements.

I admire Elsa for her utmost concern for the success of BWHS'65 reunion... Imagine, kahit di sya makaka-attend may pasalubong pa rin!!!! More power to you, my dear...

You can just imagine what 42 yrs have done to us all. Pati si Juanito Carolino! Johnny kayo ng Johnny! Ako naman isip ng isip kung sino un until I saw his picture. Only then I recalled his face during our high school days.

Will try to send my and our family's pictures next time. Tele-nobela na po ito.

Till the next issue..... God bless and guide us all always....

Dear Sonny and everyone,

Sonny, before I talk about the "atsara", I would like to congratulate you for your outstanding achievements in the banking industry. Before I moved to Canada, I worked at two large commercial banks in the Philippines, but I had not held a senior management position like you do. From 1973-75, I worked in the Internal Audit Dept of the General Bank and Trust Co. Head Office (now Allied Bank) and from 1975-80, I worked at the Bank of Philippine Islands, Plaza Cervantes Branch, Manila as a Senior Bookkeeper, and a candidate for the Junior Executive Training Program when I left for Canada in 1980. Most of my barkadas at Allied Bank and BPI have been bank officers. I was offered a transfer to BPI Nasugbu and BPI Batangas City, but I refused both offers because I was in the MBA Program at Letran College at that time.

I really miss the "atsara" from Calaca. The last time I had it, was in 1993 (14 years ago) when I visited the Phils. We can buy pickles (also made of papaya) at Chinese store here, but the taste is not as good as the Calaca "atsara". I think the Calacachara Festival that you've seen on TV was held on Oct. 20-22, 2005, which was a prelude to the annual town fiesta, being held every Oct 24th. This festival is still posted in the website of Calaca (www.Calaca.net). I had visited the Philippines as a "balikbayan" five times, and I always brought Calaca "atsara" to Canada. Of course, I gave some to my friends here, who are from Nueva Ecija, Ilocos, and Metro Manila. Being a Calaqueno, I am proud of our "atsara" and as I am much closer to the production line from anybody else who plans to attend our reunion, I volunteer to bring "atsara" to Casa Corazon, which by the way is about five kms from our barangay.

I have already purchased two bottles of red wine made from Kelowna, British Columbia, (the wine cannery of Canada) and a bunch of key rings (with Canada name/logo) for our reunion. I bought a locally made red wine so that you guys can also taste a Canadian wine. I join everyone in your anxiety and anticipation for our GRAND REUNION. Hope everyone is in the best of health. See you Sonny and the rest of the BWHS Class 65.

Fred

Good day Everyone!

I praised our Almighty God for this wonderful Monday morning. I also thank Him for the fruitful weekend that He showered unto us all.

Estela, thanks for letting us know the Malaysian greetings "Apa Bakar". Yo soy bueno, y tu? You don't have to worry if you are unable to communicate with us during weekdays, BWHS65 understood everyone's situation. Thanks for letting me know that you received the postcard. Likewise, I received your reply to my sms, thanks.

Thank you for your reminded that there is always One who is powerful than anyone here on earth, and that everything we own are only temporary. As far as I knew, there is no one in our batch who have or will have that kind of attitude. That's the main reason why our grand reunion was initiated - to build a camaraderie atmosphere within our batch. BWHS65 doesn't want to build another Berlin wall that will separate those successful batchmates from those less fortunate ones. The only thing that we regret, and as what Leland had stated in one of his e-mails, is that we should have do this grand reunion a long time ago. We never think of it before because during those days we are all busy tending our growing family. However, it's not too late to cover-up those lost days.

You don't have to be scared that Dr. Philip won't be able to recognize you or anyone else in our batch. Though he is on the top of the world now, he is the same Felipe that we knew. Nothing had change except that he is financial well off.

Sonny, thanks for your long e-mail. Pare ko, bawi ka na sa haba ng e-mail mo. Being the Vice-President for Northern Mindanao Branches, you're one of the best in our batch. You're one of the Bigatin and the Tigasin.

Thanks for the clarification that it's not you nor Joe who had that relationship with Magna Fe. I envied the three of you because you had that courage to face the flood just to reach the place of Juanito's sinisinta. Talagang gigulo si Pare mo. I think up to now you won't be able to catch him at home. He told me that he don't have time to respond to our e-mail because he is always busy - with the girls I think. Me, I just confined my feeling to one of our classmates secretly, so hanggang tingin na lang ako. That's the lesson I learned - never be ashamed (be bold, but humble), never remain silent all the time (exercise your freedom of expression). Otherwise, you'll be left behind with nothing.

About who's the one who had crush kay Nani Carnero - eh sino pa, di 'yon tukayo mo - si Wilhelmina de Villa (Limpoco) from San Luis. I hope you still remember her. Just in case oblivion already prevails about her, she was our classmate in 1st & 2nd year. She transfered to Rizal College during 3rd year. When you look at the picture posted in our website, that old picture taken in front of the HE building, she was sitting behind Estela. She now lives in Salinas, California. She told me to ask you if you still remember when you and the rest of our classmates, i.e. Antonia Rodriguez, Emeteria Umali, etc., took the test (I think scholarship exam) that she was 2nd to you. Tinalo po raw siya sa Math. I don't know what exam she was talking about - what I knew magaling akong kumobya during exam.

Ray, thanks for your e-mail, and for your assistance in transfering Zorro's appearance in Wowowee onto the appropriate site, so our batchmates could view it. See you soon.

Count down to the reunion, today, Monday, 10/22/07 through Saturday, 12/22/07................60 days na lang po.

Regards,

Tony

He encouraged me to write also , but I enjoyed just reading all your emails.

Who knows she might have crush on you too.I'm sure somebody had a crush on you during our high school days.Aba eh pogy na, very humble and polite pa and smarte pa.!You might be surprised when revelation about their crush ,baka hindi lang isa ang sa iyo. He! He! He!

Talking about Tony, he called while I'm writing this, sabi mo raw kasi ay gisingin ako. You know what ,ang gisingin mo ay si Jose Sison, why don't you call him? I heard he's already retired so there is no excuse for not communicating w/ us even once. I can't believed that you never heard from him since graduation.Sonny we are still waiting for your family picture. Johnny looks good in his picture.

Estela, hi kumusta na. Nice to hear from you, although Imee usually update me about you everytime I talked to her. I saw your group pictures also at Mario's place, you still look the same. I felt so bad that I won't make it to the reunion.

Imelda I'm sorry, I know I was one of those who asked to change the date but my health didnot cooperate. I don't have enough vacation hours to go home and I cannot just ask for leave of abscense . Next time that I go home Imee, I will tell you ahead of time so I can meet w/ you all .Inggit na inggit ako sa inyo especially when I read all your emails. I will miss all the fun. Imelda pls. tell Ate Lina that I'm not coming. We are planning another reunion in 2009 here in US probably you guys can come here too.

Leland thank you for all those beautiful pictures that you are sending us,very interesting. And thanks for all your efforts to make bwhsbatch65 photos accessible for all of us to view anytime we want to reminisce our highschool days.

Zorro, hi this is France, eh celebrity kana ngayon ah.Everybody wants to see the Batangueno bigatin. You have good family pictures. Buti ka pa maraming anak , ako wala kahit isa.

Hi France & Everyone!

As always, I thank our Almighty God for all the blessings that He gives to us day by day.

France, thanks for your very long e-mail. Talaga ha - sinagad mo na. Teka, in fairness to me I think I rung you every week, not every 2 weeks, but sometimes you were out of the house, or you weren't at home yet, as what your mother said. You're right - ang dapat gisingin ay si Mr. Joey Sison. Aba! last year when I spoke with him over the phone I asked him if he is already a retiree, he told me that "matagal na akong retarded" sabay tawa. I'll print some of our e-mails, and I'll mail them to Joe together with the screen print of our website. That way he will be updated of what's going on with our batch.

Batchmates, aside from France I also called our "Behind the Screen Classmate/Batchmate (BSCB), and I also forwarded to him/her our e-mails. Though he/she is one of our very successful classmate/batchmate, he/she still maintain a low profile attitude. I am calling the attention of our officers and committee members to hurry-up with their computations of the reasonable amount that we could contribution, because everyone is asking how much it is. Please be reminded that our generous BSCB will double our contributions (only from North Americans).

Zorro, last night while I was viewing the attachment "Wowowee", my granddaughter asked me "Grandpa, why do keep on playing that thing, and why you keep on laughing, who is he? I said "siya ang classmate ko noon high school at siya ang aming joker." "Joker? like Dolphy."

While I was writing this message, I received a call from my wife that they are packing up since last night. The big fire in San Diego Country is spreading all over the County. The fire is spreading too fast, and it's almost close to them. I would like to request to all to please include in your prayer the safety of my family in San Diego. That our Almighty pour out His mighty power to contain the fire.

Leland, thanks for letting us know about the new photos posted in our PhotoAlbum,

Regards,

Tony

Hi Everyone!

First of all, I thank our Almighty God for all the blessings that He continuously showered onto us.

Secondly, I have good news that I want to impart to BWHS65. Just awhile ago, I was able to locate one of our classmates/batchmates when I searched on the internet his/her whereabout. I was able to get in touch with him/her, and we had a very long and wholesomely conversation. As you will notice, I am not specific as to his/her identity because he/she doesn't want to be identified for the time being. He/she didn't even want to be copied with our e-mail, instead he/she just want me to forward to him/her all our e-mails, so he/she will be updated with the progress of our forthcoming grand reunion. One of the most important things that we talked about, besides from reminiscing our high school years, was the financial aspect of our reunion. I told him/her that not all of our classmates/batchmates are fortunate enough financially, so the committee decided to make the contribution voluntary. He/she told me that whatever amount that could be collected from our classmates/batchmates who are residents of North America - he will double (2X WOW! naman) the amount as his/her share. I was so happy of what I heard. I told him/her that the collected amount will be spent accordingly for the benefit of our Alma Mater, which will make our reunion meaningful. He/she promised that we can expect him/her to attend our affair. Sir/Mom, BWHS65 would be like to thank you so much for your generosity. 'Blessed are those who share their blessings'.

And lastly, as scheduled, our lunch date with Felipe took place in one of his apartments in Chicago, Illinois. Mrs. Aro, my sister and I arrived at Felipe's place exactly on our appointed time. The apartment is on the 7th floor overlooking the Michigan Bay. It is a nice place especially during summertime. From the terrace, you can see the people who are sun bathing along the white sand beach. Dra. Bernie prepared the food (Filipino dishes) which includes, among other things, sinigang na mongo, salmon and shrimps. She is not only a Pediatrician, but also I good cook. As usual and can't be forgotten, we reminisced our yesteryears. We (Mrs. Aro, my sister and I) would like to thank our Doctor, and most especially to his wife, Dra. Bernie, for the time, the food and for their hospitality. Maraming salamat po Docs.

'Til my next e-mail.

Regards, and have a safety and fruitful weekend.

Hi Tony,

Kaming tatlo nina Ciber at Rolito ay last platoon, last squad and last men.

Salamat at natatandaan mo pa ako.

McArthur, Sir, you returned." Kaya hanggang malakas, may wasto pa tayo pag-iisip eh mag-reunion na tayo ng magreunion, di ba? Life is too short that we didn't notice it's 42 years & 7 months has gone by.

Hi Everyone!

I thank our Almighty God for all the blessings He has showered unto us day by day. I pray that He gives us wisdom & strength that our planned BWHS65 grand reunion be a success this forthcoming December 22 & 23, 2007 and the years to come.

Sonny, in compliance to France's request to wake up Joe Sison, you don't have to worry about it because I already sent a letter, together with copies of our e-mails, to your buddy. But if you still want to wake him up and be active, herewith is his address - 128 Saudi Arabia St., Better Living Subdivision, Paranaque City, with telephone # 2-823-4837. I'm absolutely sure that if you'll be the one to call his attention, mabilis pa siya sa alas kuwatro - iba s'yempre ang may pinagsamahan.

I think you are misleading us when you stated in your previous e-mail that "Nakakahiya kasi pag nasiwalat na walang nagka-crush sa akin noon." because I read from an old local newspaper of Hipit, San Nicholas, whose Editor-in-Chief was Rosaline Tenorio, about you. The Editor also stated that during our high school days Hipitenos thought their future town mayor will be a smart boy from Coral na Munti, Agoncillo.

Johnny, did you also read that issue about your compadre? I know you are aware of it because kayo nina Joe Sison, Sonny at ikaw ay inseparable. Each of you knew everyone's secrets. Sabi pa niya (Sonny) na sinuong nila ni Joe ang baha just for the sake of their love & care to their friend. I hope with this request Pareng Johnny will be compelled to communicate with us, and will let us feel that he is within the loop.

BWHS65 will expect that you will continue to keep our ball rolling.

I would also like to call the attention of our batchmates, who haven't been heard yet, to let us all feel that you are with us. Kumusta na ba kayo diyan: Yoly, Doming (Sundy), Nardo, Wilhelmina "Baby" at Gerry.

Batchmates, Nani, who is still in the primitive era (up to now he don't know how to use the computer, especially the internet, though he has a laptop and a desktop computer at home) called me awhile ago, and gave a suggestion that will make this year's, and all succeeding years' reunion meaningful. He suggested to include in our projects a yearly monetary awards to deserving graduating students of BWHS (sorry, I don't know the present name of our Alma Mater) i.e. Best in Math (PhpXXXX.00), Best in Science (PhpXXXX.00), ......... so on and so forth. The monetary awards will be accompanied by a Certificate of Achivement, which will indicate that it is given by "Batangas West High School Batch 1965". I hope our officers and batchmates will also consider his suggestion.

Again, what's in your mind today? Voice them out, and BWHS65 will take care about it.

Reunion count down - Today, Saturday, 10/27/07, 'til Saturday, 12/22/07, 55 na araw na lang - excited na ba kayo? Ako - syempre pa - imagine 42 yrs & 7 months tayong hindi nagkita.

Regards, and have a safety & fruitful weekend.

Ang inyong kamag-aral,

Tony Almaria po lamang

Dear Everyone,

Greetings!

Just arrived home here in Fairview, Quezon City from our reunion meeting held at the residence of Mario Rodriguez in Bihis, Taal, Batangas.

First, thanks a lot to Dra. Imelda Morales and Mario Rodriguez, being the moving force to make our grand reunion a success.

Actually, a total of 15 attended the meeting and they were as follows: Mario R., Imelda M., Mr & Mrs. Ed Moredo, our Secretary, Waldy, Art, Gado, J.R., Nori Lascano, Pilar, Wenona, dolores Sangalang, Lina Bendana, Others, I cannot remember the names. The meeting started at exactly 11:00 am and of course, we had lunch after we adjourned 12:05 p.m. The food were courtesy of Mario and other attendees. Lina B. brought fruit salad, Resty brought bananas, Dolly S. 3 boxes of pastries, at marami pa.

The meeting was so organized as we started the meeting with a prayer led by Ed Moredo. Then Waldy, our secretary read the minutes of our previous meeting. Then I informed the group that I have already received the copy of the mail sent by Imelda containing the invitation and map going to Casa Corazon, the venue of our reunion.

We discussed the scheduled activities and Pilar confirmed that the Holy Mass will be at 7:30 am instead of 8:00 am. then we proceed to BWHS where we will gather and wait for everybody before we go to Casa Corazon. Uniform t-shirt @P125.00 will be distributed on or before the reunion. Pilar and I agreed to coordinate and collect the cost of the t-shirt while printing of the logo will be coordinated by Wenona.

Then we talked about the food and agreed that some will be given assignment for the preparation and cost will be paid from the collections especially given by those coming from abroad. Sorry to say this (just being frank) but I told the group that since most of us has been involved in the preparation spending not only money but precious time, I believe those coming from abroad will be very generous to give their good shares to make this reunion a very succesful one. Well, I know, you all will also be spending a lot for your plane fare and pasalubongs but paminsan minsan lang naman ito. Wala naman pilitan, just voluntary and those who can really afford to give, please para masaya lahat. There will be for sure Sinaing na Tulingan, Pinais na Dulong or Tawilis, Kalderetang Kambing, Pork Bar-B-Q, Pansit, Inihaw na Talong with kamatis at Bagoong (with shredded na mangang hilaw), maybe tinolang manok or Sinigang na Hipon and many more.

I heard also from Imelda that Nani suggested to give donations to serving graduating students of BWHS now Lemery High. Well, that's a good idea. Of course, we settle first our expenses to include the cost of the venue.

By the way, a certain Rey Bathan, is offering an entertainment package at P28,000.00 and we said it's too much. While yun two singers for 3 to 4 hours will cost us P3,000.00. What is your comment, do you still want to have it? He he he he..

Naiwan ko pa sila doon sa bahay ni Mario because I left early since I have a commitment in our church here in Fairview. I help our priest in giving holy communion being a special minister of the Holy Eucharist.

Our final meeting will be on November 24 to see everything are being set-up and if there are other things to do and/or to be fixed.

Let's not forget to pray for good health of everyone and also pray for those who are not yet convince in attending this beautiful reunion. Hoping also that Eva Morales will come.

See you all and God bless.

Hi Everyone!

It's Monday, 9:35 AM Chicago time, and it's a sunny chilly morning. As always, I thank the Lord for a fruitful weekend, and for this wonderful day that I will be able to communicate with you guys.

Manoling, thanks for your e-mails, and for providing us with your poging photo. When was that picture taken? You still look young even if you are almost close to the "Top Gun Club" whose members are Ato, Nani & Nardo.

Well, as to the entertainers "live band" - I think it's too costly, but I always abide with what's the decision of the majority. If the majority decided that it's a necessity to have one to make our reunion lively, then I have to dance with the music willingly. In my opinion, though it's nice to have such entertainers, we also have to consider its detrimental effect to our projects.

I am going to take my wife to the reunion. When I spoke with Lina Brotonel Calderon, she is going to be accompanied by her younger sister who is also a product of BWHS. By the way, Lina is asking if we are going to be provided with the program and invitation.

Imelda, please include me in our program. I am going to prove that, after 42 years & 9 months, I still have a retentive memory - I'm going to recite the poem, "O' Captain, My Captain", which Ms. Norma Aguila instructed us to memorize.

What about the reasonable voluntary amount that we "North Americans" are going to contribute? Though it is voluntary, we just like to know the figures, so we will have a basis of how much we are going to remit. Please be reminded that the generous contribution by our anonymous batchmate will depend on the total $ amount contributed by North Americans. Hurry-up please.

Okay folks, it's 53 days na lang...........................magkikita-kita na tayo.

Regards, and have a pleasant day.

As always,

Tony G. Almaria po lamang

Dear Tony and everyone,

Greetings!

Bilib talaga ako saiyo Tony, coz you always give thanks to the Lord for His countless blessings, even for the simplest things that we received from Him. We really should not forget this gesture coz everything comes from Him.

I always say not yet. It is just natural, malapad lang talaga ang noo ko. he he he.

You said that you have a good/retentive memory but I believe the name of our teacher is Ms. Norma Aguilar ( not Norma Aguila).

About the voluntary contribution, ok siempre bawat isa naman sa atin ay dapat mag share but those who cannot help financially will surely assist in making our program and other activities a success. Meantime, let me give you the details of our possible expenses: More or less -Venue (villa corazon) for 1 day - P6,000.00 so 2 days = P12,000.00 (those who will stay overnight not included). Food for 100 to 120 persons - a very conservative estimate of P65,000 to P75,000 for two days (Saturday-lunch -dinner and Sunday-breakfast and lunch). So possible expenses for two days will be more or less in the range of P90,000.00 or $2,200.00. Don't worry, some of our batchmates here in the Philippines can also share their blessings. Basta masaya tayo sigurado, Kahit walang live-band. We will also prepare for fun games.

About the requested Kalderetang kambing, Lechon Baboy, Sinaing na Tulingan, Dulong and/or Tawilis, Mangang hilaw with bagoong at kamatis plus nilagang talong and Pork Bar-B-Q (to be served on Saturday), we have already assigned these to Mario Rodriguez, Pilar, Wenona, Waldy and myself. While the other food for Sunday will be prepared by my wife (Relyenong manok, Pancit Sotanghon, Menudo and Fish Fillet with Garlic Dip and potato salad as desert). For our Breakfast will be Pork tapa, fried egg, Special Fried Rice and Chocolate and/or coffee.

If you want to change anything mentioned above and/or you have suggestion/s, please inform us well ahead to prepare the necessary adjustment or arrangement.

Till next e-mail. We will have our final meeting on November 24, 2007.

God bless us all.

Hi Boy & Everyone!

How's everyone doing? I pray that you are wholesomely blessed.

Boy, I received today, 11/01/07, the box containing medicines that you gave me (thanks a lot), and for our batchmates. On behalf of BWHS65, we thank you so much for your thoughtfulness. Rest assured that those medicines will be distributed to our batchmates with the guidance of our Doctors: Imelda, Felipe and Arthur. I won't include Nani because he is not quite sure to make it to our reunion.

Batchmates, I would like to take this opportunity to ask for an apology if ever my e-mails are sometimes offensive to you and/or to your loved ones. Please bear in mind that I don't want to hurt anyone's feeling - my intention is to have a lively communication, and to have fun with you. In my opinion, by connecting our past (high school days) to the present and to the future, we will have a camaraderie environment, and there's nothing more than that I would like to do - there's no string attached. If you think that I am too aggressive, your notes and/or reminder will be highly appreciated.

Regards, and have a good day.

Hi, Tony

I am moved by your statement asking forgiveness should any of our classmates or their loved ones ( the wife, or the husband, I would presume)would some how find some portions, if not the whole, "offensive ". This is not at all true Tony. The reverse is what it is, your letters are truly historical, entertaining, informative, caring, and full of impish surprises, including some juicy tidbits, intrigas, chismis, and what you have, that makes the hearts of most of us, pushing 60's, beat faster as it were some 42 years ago. Continue writing the way you do, Tony. You're doing okay.

Now I know that you are not only adept at tracking "missing persons" ( as you did to many of us "missing alumni", you are also a first rate sleuth who perhaps have a handful of secret informants about the young love affairs of your classmates, no matter how remote it had been. Imagine, you even remembered that once I knew and befriended a lady from Hipit? ( who was not our classmate/batchmate anyway, but in third year when we were in fourth year.) Naubos na kasi yong mga classmates nating babae, most of whom never really took me seriously, kaya I have to look somewhere else. Biro lang ,Pare, but I was really surprised, specially 'yong item sa local papers. Can you help me get a copy ot it?

Anyway, I read with interest the extent of preparations that Dra. Imee and the committee had been doing, including the very wonderful suggestions from you, Leland, Fred, Ray Baldoz, and lately Henry, and many others, specially Manolo. It looks everything is set, and let me put in some more, just in case it will be practical enough to be adopted "

1. Manolo is right, we must have at least a working number of possible attendees, both alumni and relatives, considering that a lot of preparations will depend on the number of participants. Although many from abroad are coming, I think the bulk of participants will still be the "locals", so let's do the best to bring them in. I will take care of Jess de Leon, and when I go to Manila at the end of the month, I will call up Joey Sison. Maybe we should adopt a "Bring a Classmate/Batchmate" Program.

2. The menu, as described by Manolo is superb, but maybe we should avoid food that are too rich, and therefore expensive. I think we are all in the age where we don't eat too much na, but the ones from abroad would really crave for a little of the local delicacies. It's holiday season anyway, and most people are "busog."

3. I think we should not allowe hard drinks, even beer. Wines would be more appro- priate. San Mig Light siguro, baka puwede.

4. Imee, I suggest that before the Christmas vacation starts, a delegation of officers from our class, led by you, of course, to formally visit the Principal and other school officials , maybe the Alumni Affairs Board, if any, so that they will know about our activities. This way, you will also have an idea as to what project/s we can get involved in.

5. If it's okay, I think we should do away na lang with a live band, kasi aside from expensive, maingay din yon. A good sound system, properly set up will do, but if we can afford a lady vocalist and a good guitarist, it is also good to have live entertainment, but let's just make sure they know how to do the "oldies but goodies" numbers. Siguro , let us have printed lyrics of the popular songs so that some can join the singing. Dancing?, Imee will take care of this. She is a versatile and tireless ballroom dancer.

6. I am sure many will bring cameras, videocams, etc, but it may be good if there is a professional photographer/video services provider so that we will have an appropriate and properly edited/annotated recording of the various activities, which we can sell to raise funds. We can also sell these to our classmates abroad who were not able to attend, so that they will be encouraged to join the future reunions.

7. Maybe we should have a program host and hostess for every activity segment, para hindi naman nakakaawa 'yong mga committee members and so that the functions can also be rotated /farmed out.

8. I noted we have commemorative T-shirts. Let us also have a printed programme where we will have the addresses, tel numbers, email adds of all our classmates/ batchmates, their business or avocations for future business networking or plain getting in touch in the future, specially those who will be traveling abroad and who may need some help.

9. Since this is a "grand reunion" and one where many of our classmates/batchmates will attend, we might as well have a "business meeting", to assess the activities we had, to plan out for sustaining reunions/mini reunions in the future., etc. In this meeting, we can also organize very well. We may even consider putting up a foundation, or whatever structure to perpetuate our goals and ideals.

10. Lest we forget, let us plan out for that memorial mass for Francia, Juanito and other classmates/batchmates and teachers who left ahead of us, that their sould may find peace in the grace of our Lord.

Anyway, I think all these ideas have already been brought forth earlier and are already being done by our organizing committees. I just could not resist summarizing them again just in case there are some ideas that may be useful.

Thanks to you all, and with my best regards,

SONNY

This one is for my Pareng Boy Carolino,

Pare, kumusta ka na. How is Mareng Cely and Jason, my inaanak. I hope you can do something to come for the reunion, it will really be fun. Tony told me that you came last June, but we were not able to see each other. I will try to get in touch with Joey, who is now staying in Paranaque. I will encourage him to join the reunion and if both of yoiu can come, then we will be complete.

Our youngest, Francis, will be going to the States next week but he will be staying alternately with my brothers Nap in Norwalk and Noli in Corona, both in Los Angeles. Should he be going to the New York side, can I ask him to get in touch with yoiu?

Until then, Pare. and with my best regards,

SONNY

To everyone,

Happy Holidays!

Praise and thanks God! Our grand reunion was a very successful affair. Although some expected members of Batch 65 did not attend, still it was a great occasion.

We started the day (Saturday, Dec.22) with a Holy mass at Lemery Catholic church. Then we went to Batangas West reminishing our days there where we did enjoy high schools days. We also toured almost the town passing the main streets and reached Villa Corazon at almost 10:00 am. Siempre kita-kita guessing who is who. There were some who could not recognize because of the long 42 years of absence.

First to arrived at the church whom I met was Fred Dimailig with his brother and adopted pamangkin. Of course with me was Iluminada Gumapac coz we are both from Quezon City while Nita Atienza who promised to attend was absent again for unknown reason. Next to arrived were Bert Biscocho, Pilar Dela Luna and her husband, Leland delas Alas, Mario rodriguez & wife, Tony Almaria, Ed & Norie Moredo, Rogelio & Amor De Castro, Adelia, Gado Vergara, Lavinia, Waldy, Max, Nardito Hernandez, Veneranda Arandia, Lina Brotonel & husband, Felipe Enriquez with wife & kid, Sonny Mendoza, Imelda Morales and many others could not remember yet.

So nagmerienda muna kami ng Suman, Puto, Arrozcaldo at marami na di ko maalala kasi busy sa kwentuhan. he he he.

Then some late members to arrive were Marcelina Bendana with husband Nick, Apolonio Lacerna, Estela Arboleda Dela Cruz, Rosauro Napa & wife, Normilando Mendoza and sorry to those I could no longer recognize. We had our lunch on time, of course prepared by the daughter of Waldy, our caterer. Mayron sinaing na tulingan while Mario Rodriguez brought Kalderetang kambing and Sampayne (laman-loob ng kambing, masarap of course). The other menu (Relyenong Manok, Pork/Chicken Adobo, Beef Caldereta, Pork Bar-b-Q and Potato Salad) were cooked and prepared by my wife, Beth. Busog lahat and I believe satisfied naman sa pagkain.

The rest of the afternoon was scheduled for sharing and introduction of every attendees. One by one did introduce theirselves, maraming seryoso. So when I was called to say something, I changed the mode to laughters. I told the crowd that I was a frustrated lover during our high school days. First, was Florencia Malabanan, a very pretty girl, talagang cute but despite of my antics and persistent courship ay binasted ako. I notice Araceli Suayan but I learned that her crush was Mario Magsino. Then not wanting to be left by the other love teams, I look around whom I can be proud of. I saw a very simple lady and I courted her, she was Evangelina Morales but again busted na naman ako. I tried several times to win her (Placing notes inside her notebooks, mayron pang love songs notably yun "I can't stop loving you". but all my efforts were fruitless. Paiyak -iyak pa ako noon. he he he. We were third year high school when I saw a beautiful lady in the higher class, Lourdes "Lulu" Salazar from fourth year section 1. We became friends and later on I asked a picture of her for my souvenir and when she gave me one, I thought that was it. Mukhang may pag-asa na. Tinutukso na nga kami ng mga kasama niya but then again, I learned that she had a boyfriend, named "Sim". Noon fourth year na tayo, crush ko na rin si Yoly De Castro, binibigyan ko siya ng flowers from the garden of my Auntie. Pero nang malaman ng parents ko, they told me "a big No" yoly is our relative. (laughters and laughters)

So during my college days, I changed my strategy. When I met my future wife, ang niligawan ko ay mother niya. We are blessed with two girls and one daughter. Mayron na rin akong dalawang apo and since retired na ako from the bank service, abala na lang ako sa apo and possibly I can start my new business venture this coming year 2008. Actually expanding our catering service and other related services.

We finished day at almost 6:00pm and come back the following day, Sunday Dec. 23. While the others were busy taking their breakfast, Mario, Pilar and I were busy preparing the statement of account of our reunion. Although not final yet since Pilar and Waldy have to settle yet some expenses, I can say in advance that we still have money for future reunions.

At this point of time, allow me to extend my thanks and congratulations to Mario Rodriguez, Waldy, Pilar and Imelda for the successful affair. Of course, to the generous donors: Felipe Enriquez & wife, Leland delas Alas, Tony Almaria & wife, Reynaldo Carnero, Lina Brotonel & Husband, Marcelina Bendana & Nick, Apolonio Lacerna, Poling & Vida Bathan, Elsa Ilagan, Estela Arboleda dela Cruz, Sonny Mendoza, Fred Dimailig, Leonardo Piol and many others hindi ko na matandaan. Diyos na bahala sa kanila. later, I will mention them when I get the final list from Pilar. We will have a meeeting hopefully as early as this coming January 2008.

I left the group at almost 11:00 am because of a previous commitment and my sunday church service at the Good Shepherd Cathedral in Fairview, Quezon City. When I checked with Mario R., the group adjourned at almost 4 pm. Ayaw maghiwahiwalay, masaya kasi.

Sure there will ber another one, sana mas well attended to be another great reunion of batch 65.

Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year!!!

God bless us all.

Hi Elsa & Everyone,

Elsa, thanks for your response and for your offer to drive me around Vegas. My plan is not to drive my daughter's car from San Diego to Vegas because of the high cost of gasoline. Instead we'll take the Greyhound bus, which is cheaper and comfortable. I'll bring with me a copy of your picture that you posted in our website. I won't oblige you to wear Maria Clara, but mini shirt. Remember during our high school days 'yon ang uso. I'll give you a call. Please extend my regards to your husband.

Leland, thanks for letting me know that you already received your DVDs. The next picutre that you are going to post in our website will be our (Nani & me) pictures. Nani will be coming to Chicago this Friday, 06/27/08, but we'll see each other on Saturday.

Manoling, thanks for your response and advise. Though Sept. 11 shouldn't be forgotten, I considered it as a thing of the past. America has learned a lesson from it (tragic event)that makes her more secured. Though the outgoing President's, George W. Bush, performance rating is historically very low, I still symphatized him when it comes to national security. Obviously, I'll still proceed with my vacation as scheduled. Probably next year, if I have plan to spend my vacation during Sept., and the leader occupying the White House is weak and inexperienced Democrat, then I'll think several times before proceeding to my plan.

I respect your opinion about life, and I congratulate you for having such a long and happy life. Like you I am also praying and looking forward for more healthy life, so we can serve our batch mates & our Alma Mater.

Ross, I didn't include you in my list who are going to be provided with DVDs because I thought you live in Luzon (Marilao, Bulacan) who can easily be reached by our officers and batch mates in the Phils. Don't worry, I'll mail the DVDs to your address - 3 Yen Corner Lire Sts., St.Michael Homes, Marilao, Bulacan (pls confirm if your address is correct).

Yoly, Francisca is right that you haven't change after 42 years had already lapsed. She (France) told me that you accidentally met each other at the airport. You are still beautiful. I remember you were one of the white cover girls (maputi) in our class. We are hoping to hear from you at your convenient time.

Okay guys, time to end my chika chika.

Regards, and God Bless.

Hi everybody! It took me a week to email this minutes, my apology. So here I am, in the unholy hour of the morning, I am sending you this email. Last week, I was in Manila for two days for an important meeting of our association. I am the overall coordinator of the Psychosocial Response to Disaster Committee of the Philippine Psychiatric Association. After the meeting, I have to email our members to mobilize them to help debrief not only the disaster victims but also the caregivers.

MINUTES OF THE 4TH REGULAR MEETING OF BWHS BATCH 1965 OFFICERS HELD ON 29 JUNE 2008 IN PILAR CORTINAS' RESIDENCE IN SAMBAL, LEMERY, BATANGAS

Note: The original schedule of the meeting was on 22 June 2008 but it was moved to 29 June 2008 due to typhoon Frank. It was signal no. 3 in Batangas last 22 June 2008.

Attendance: Absent 1. Imelda M. Martin -IMM 1. Normilando Lascano 2. Gloria V. Estacio - GVE 2. Manolo Carandang 3. Waldy D.L. Diokno - WDD 3. Rosauro Napa 4. Pilar D.L. Cortinas - PDC 4. Lavinia De Guzman 5. Mario B. Rodriguez - MBR 6. Marcelina B. Cabaneiro- MBC 7. Wenona U. Banawa -WUB 8. Honorata P. Moredo - HPM 9. Edmundo Moredo 10. Iluminada V. Balboa

AGENDA:

1. The meeting was presided by the President, IMM. It was called to order at 1:00pm.

2. MBC moved for the approval of minutes of previous meeting and was seconded by PDC,

3. Matters arising from minutes of previous meeting: 3.1. SEC registration: It was clarified by MBC who asked her relative working in SEC: - If a foundation will be registered, a capital of PhP1M will be deposited in SEC which is withdrawable after the approval. - Suggested that it is better to be registered as an "association" which is non-stock, non-profit, with no required amount to be deposited in SEC. - Board of trustees - minimum of 5 and maximum of 15. Their TIN, residence certificate numbers with the date and place of issue and complete address is required. PhP40 per head will be paid to SEC. Articles and by-laws of the association will be attached. HPM said she gave the name BWHS Batch 1965 when she took the form from SEC. She will follow up if that name was approved. She presented the receipts in the amount of PhP605 for reimbursement for her expenses in securing the SEC form and the delivery by courier to IMM. The SEC form is with MBC. The requirements will be completed so she can forward it to SEC.

3.2.The group set the final date for the reunion this year. It will be on 6 December 2008, Saturday. The venue is the Cultural Hall of Lemery Pilot Elementary School LPES). GVE will coordinate with LPES authorities for the venue. Letters will be sent in August to members of Batch 1965 regarding this reunion.

3.3. Compulsory contribution of officers and committee members: - Coordinator for Section 5 - Iluminada Balboa was added as Gerardo Picazo could not always come to attend the meeting. - HPM suggested a higher amount of contribution for the officers and lesser for the committee members. She suggested PhP1,000 to be the minimum up to PhP5,000 or more for those who can afford. - The group agreed on PhP2,000 as the minimum for officers and PhP1,000 for the committee members. There is no limit on the maximum amount. There are 12 officers and 16 committee members who will contribute and assuming a minimum amount will be given, it will be PhP24,000 plus PhP16,000, so a total of PhP40,000 is on the bag for the coming reunion. - The committee chairs will relay to their members about this contribution.

3.4. Projects: Donation of books/reference materials and computer - One of the emails received by IMM, from Fred or from Tony, mentioned that he will send books and reference materials to BWHS. IMM will email those who are abroad to send them c/o to her. They will be collected, those from local and abroad, and will be given to our Alma Mater at the same time with the list of the names of the donors. - Nardito will be contacted regarding the computer when he comes home next month. Sustainability of awarding cash to LeMeHi graduating honor students. The group agreed to continue it yearly. IMM reported that there is also a group awarding cash, but it is not from a batch of BWHS graduates, but from a lending business. Batch 1965 is the only graduate of BWHS who gave such award. The Principal and the recipients were very happy and appreciated this project of our batch.

3.5. Opening of dollar account: The Treasurer will be leaving soon for Canada and will be away for three months. Exchange of dollar to peso increased and is still increasing. If we will buy dollars, it will cost us much. We will see when PDC comes back (hopefully with dollars from our compatriots abroad) the possibility of opening a dollar account.

4. Committee reports: 4.1. Membership: - The Chair, GVE, reported that among the members she texted, only Veneranda Arandia replied. - IMM suggested to the group that if ever they meet any of our batch mates, they should get their present addresses and contact numbers and forward them to the Secretary, WDD.

4.1. Projects: - The Chair, MBR, said he has not yet acted on any project. He was busy the past months attending to the building of his house. - IMM read the emails regarding the suggested projects: From Tony Almaria: Souvenir magazine suggested by Poling Bathan. We will solicit advertisement and/or donation. Initially, it will be published annually. He suggested that we request Danny Maneja to be our editor-in-chief.

From Manolo Carandang: A chapel be constructed inside the BWHS compound. He will donate statues of Jesus the Good Shepherd and of Virgin Mary. His feedback regarding the souvenir program: It is a very easy project but the process will cause everyone a real headache. It is very hard to attend to such project. The group suggested a prayer room instead of a chapel because the latter will cost not less than a million and there might be no more space in the compound for it.

From Leland Delas Alas: Souvenir program is not a bad idea for a start. He suggested some kind of a newsletter which will keep us in touch with each other and to involve Danny Maneja because he knows he is well qualified to do it. A fund raising he suggested is a raffle, like the one being done in his native place in Butong, Taal. The group said we cannot hold a raffle every month because we cannot sell the tickets to the same people monthly.

From Fred Dimailig: The best fundraising option is to have all our batchmates who are abroad donate a minimum of $500 by 2010. It's a matter of saving $167 per year, $14 a month or 47 cents per day. Fifteen classmates will generate $7,500 or approximately PhP315.000. Given this amount, Batch 65 can donate one classroom to BWHS and can provide financial assistance to our poor batchmates.

Mario remarked that the suggestion of Fred is very laudable. Regarding the souvenir program, he said it can be brought up in the reunion this year. If it will be approved, it can be started next year so that it will be out in 2010.

From Ray Baldoz: I can share my knowledge in all aspect of fine arts. I can also post my design and construction company in one whole page for a cause benefit. For the prayer room, we can ask Ray to make a design and estimate its cost.

4.3. Finance: The Treasurer, PDC, reported the following: PNB time deposit - PhP80,000.00 earned an interest of PhP323,55 for three months Savings account: PhP10,605.74 Total: PhP90,929.29 There is still debt from PDC, PhP3,000.00 and from HPM, PhP605.00. 5. Other matters: 5.1. Vision and Mission: IMM read the vision and mission of Batch 1965 written in Filipino, emailed by Rosauro Napa. She asked the group, particularly, GVE, to help translate it in English. 5.2. Video film of the reunion last December 2007 was sent by Gerardo Vergara to Tony Almaria and the latter sent copies to batch mates abroad. The group will watch it on next meeting. 5.3. The group thanked PDC for hosting this meeting. 6. Schedule of next meeting: MBR is very kind to volunteer his place for the next meeting. It is his house blessing and thanksgiving. It will be on 26 July 2008, Saturday, 10:00am. I 7. Meeting adjourned at 2:30pm. Prepared by: (SGD) WALDY DELA LUNA-DIOKNO Noted: (SGD) IMELDA MORALES-MARTIN, MD Sonny, Manolo and Zorro, please take note of the schedule of the next meeting. Other matters in my mind will be in my next email. I am already very sleepy. Thank you for all your suggestions and emails. Please, let us hear from those who are silent. We need your opinions/suggestions/comments/critique. Warm regards! Have a blessed Sunday! Imelda

Dear Imelda, Thank you very much for the minutes. The hardwork and dedication of the officers and members of BWHS Class 65 are very much appreciated. We should continue with our mission to give back something good to our Alma Mater (BWHS) by way of any projects that our group can afford to accomplish, provide financial assistance to graduating honor students from LeMeHi every year as well as to our classmates/batchmates who are in need of our assistance. We should continue pursuing these worthy initiatives while we still have the capabilities, resources. strength, energy, desire, enthusiasm, leadership and team spirit. Imelda, regarding our donation of books and reference materials to LeMeHi, I have mentioned in my previous e-mail and in telepone conversation that I will be sending books/reference materials. I will be starting to find encyclopedias, dictionaries, high school english communication and science books and send them to you. I agree that BWHS Class 65 be established and registered as a non-profit association instead of a foundation because we don't have the minimum capitalization requirement of the SEC for a foundation. What is the group's plan, is it to publish a souvernir magazine on a periodic basis or a one-time souvenir magazine for the purpose of fund-raising? If it is the former, I advise that the group form an Editiorial Board and I suggest that you "Imelda" be the Editor-in-Chief. The members of the Editorial Board will be assisting the Editor-in-Chief in editing and putting the publications together. You may invite Danny Maneja to join the Editorial Board. If it is a one-time souvenir magazine, then the group does not need an Editior-in-Chief. I think the group can successfully publish a magazine and at the same time raise funds under your administration, and of course with the collaboration and participation of the members. Regarding my suggestion for fund-raising, I hope that our classmates/batchmates in abroad, especially those in US and Canada agree to donate a minimum of $500 by 2010. It really feels good to be involved with BWHS Class 65 and rest assured that I'll do my part to meet our mission and objectives. With your strong leadership, unity and cooperation of members, I am confident that BWHS Class 65 will successfully achieve its objectives. God bless us all. It's summer here and the sun sets in at 10:00 PM. Regards, Fred

A sunny Monday to all of you!

Thank you, Fred, for your prompt reply. Yes, you are right. While we are still strong, we should continue pursuing our objectives. That is what Mario keeps on telling us during our meetings - that we should be thankful that we are still strong and can still laugh to our hearts' desire. That we should meet as often as possible because we will not experience anymore the laughter and the camaraderie we share once we become weak or bedridden and our memories no longer intact.

For those who will be sending materials to be donated to the BWHS library, if you will be sending it by mail, my address is 0977 BCK Drive, RK Village, Kumintang Ibaba, Batangas City. If you will send it through your balikbayan relatives who live near Lemery, you can ask them to bring it to our house in Lemery, 122 P. Gomez St. My sister Baby, lives there.

The idea of coming up with a souvenir program will be brought up in the reunion this year. If it will be approved by the body, we will start looking for people who will work on it. I think we cannot publish a newsletter on a regular basis yet. Most of us here and even you folks abroad are still employed and nobody can sit regularly to write articles for such publication.

Hey, speaking of Danny. Pilar texted me last July 5 when she was leaving for Canada that Danny was on the same flight with her. He will be going to Nevada. We wanted very much to involve Danny in our activities but he seems to be aloof. Not only once but several times we went to his place. He entertained us but he never came to our meetings and reunions. I admired Tony's persistence. I hope he will still be able to reach him out even if he is already abroad. After we went around reaching out to our batch mates the past years, Mario said we could identify already those who want to get involved and those who would not. Even those from section 1, we even experienced being chased by the dogs in their places, but in the end they did not come to our reunion and did not communicate anymore. At least with Danny, he notified us that he could not come and the reason for not coming. Sorry for them, they missed the fun and the laughter during our reunions. However those experiences will not dampen our spirit. We will continue reaching out to them. Words spread to our batch mates that our reunion last year was worth attending so we hope this year we will get more attendance.

May we hear from you, folks abroad, your comment about Fred's suggestion regarding the donation to our batch' coffers?

Johnny, Poling, Ato, Yoly, my cousin LIna, France, Philip, Sundy, Estela, Sonny - may we hear from you? If you have email addresses and contact numbers of our other batch mates, please email it to me. Thank you.

Have a nice start for the week! God bless!

Ola! mi Amigos y Amigas,

I thank our Almighty God and our Lord Jesus Christ for the wholesome blessings that They always shower onto us, especially this privilege to constantly communicate with everyone. I'm sorry I wasn't able to respond to all your e-mails at once because I am so busy in the office. Our Agency is winding up the books of accounts for our fiscal year ended June 30, 2008. At home, I have to baby sit my grandson. Fred, I read your e-mail that you received your copies of the DVDs. Thanks for letting me know. Those DVDs won't be made without the efforts of our good friend and dedicated batch mate, Gerry Vergara, who, during the entire reunion, did the video taping of the "Great Performance of BWHSClass 65 - Part 1"

Imelda, thanks for the Minutes that you e-mailed to us. Your tireless efforts are very much appreciated. Please allow me to compare you with the Senator from New York, the former US First Lady, Hillary Clinton who I admire very much. Donations

1. Thanks for the reminder about the books. In my house at Binan, Laguna, I have a complete (24) volumes of Colier Encyclopedia, which I am going to donate. My only doubt is whether those books are still in good condition. What I heard from my brother, Resty, was that there are termites in our house. If the books are still in good condition, I'll request him to give them to my sister, Perla, who lives in Lemery, for delivery to anyone of our officers and batch mates in Lemery.

2. Regarding the monetary donations or the association dues, I pledge to give $200 for this year. If Pilar will be coming to Chicago, I'll give it to her. If not, I'll remit it, via XOOM.com. (the fastest & cheapest way to send money to the Phils - TV paid advertisement. but for me - it's gratis) as soon as our Association has already open a $ account in the Phils. Let me know the account name, account #, routing and the name & location of the bank. Danny Thanks for letting me know that he'll be in Nevada. I'll request my sister to ask from Danny's siblings in Lemery his (Danny) contact # in Nevada. The point why I am very persistent to reach and convince Danny, and those unfortunate batch mates, to be one of us is that I want them to feel that, no matter what happened to their lifes after March 1965, they are still being respected by our batch. If Danny & I weren't able to meet each other in the Phils., I hope to meet him in Las Vegas, Nevada on Sept. 7 to 11, 2008. The other Saturday, 06/28/08, my brother-in-law, who is the son of Mrs. Aro, my sister and I met Nani and his wife, Annie, when they came to Illionis to visit his sister, Luz. When Nani arrived at our meeting place (in an Italian restaurant) he was wearing a cap. Inside the restaurant, he took off his cap - aha! nabuhay si Padre Damaso. As expected, it was a meeting full of reminiscences and laughters. Of course, we can't forget to recall those moments when the girls played 'luksong tinik at sipa'. I told Nani that, according to Imelda, they wore bluemer. He said "ano siya?" sabay tawag. I only finished half of the salad that I ordered because I felt already full. Sino bang hindi mabubusog sa katatawa. I told Nani that his suggestion "Cash Awards" was implemented, and that the Principal and recipients of the awards were very appreciative. Our pictures will be posted soon. After a week, and that was last Saturday, 07/05/08, nabuhay naman si Padre Salve in the person of Nardo Piol. Mas malala ito - you can count the remaining hair. I picked him up from his house, which is 2 miles from our place, at 8:00 PM to meet a New Yorker, Juanito "Johnny" Carolino. We arrived at Johnny's son house at Round Lake, IL, 16 miles from our house, at around 8:35 PM. We were met by Johnny, his son, Jayson, who is also the godson of Sonny Mendoza, his daughter and the rest of his family. After 42 years, that night was my first time to see Johnny again. And what do you expect with that kind of occasion, aba! kulang ang 3 hours (we left at around 11:40PM), so we decided to continue the chikahan sa aming bahay naman today, 07/07/08. I'll be leaving the office early today, 07/07/08 for the continuation. Johnny still looks young and pogi, though he may be considered a junior top gone. His son and daughter are both nurses. He is a also a grandpa of a boy and a girl from his son. Johnny's fligfht to NY will be tomorrow. Our pictures will also be posted soon - abangan. I am very happy that all the batch mates (Nani, Nardo & Johnny) who I met are very supportive with our ongoing objectives. They are also very eager for the BWHS65 North America residents' reunion in Las Veas this year. Below are the batch mates who acted favorably to our reunion, and their suggestions:

1. Poling & Vida - will attend - preferably Friday, Saturday and Sunday of any months. 2. Leland - summer time, so they could leave their children at home. 3. Nani - will attend anytime 4. Nardo - will attend anytiime 5. Johnny -will attend anytime 6. Fred - in his email couple of months ago - won't be able because he is schedule to go to the Phils. for his niece's wedding. 7. Elsa - no problem (retiree and she has a house in Vegas) 8. Felipe - Dok ano ba?

I suggest we plan this reunion the earliest possible time in order to make it a success. I would like to know if the following batch mates will attend, and please let us hear from you your suggested dates and/or whatever you have in mind to make this reunion a memorable one: 1. Ato Pesigan 2. Doming "Sundy" Razon 3. Yoly De Castro Castro 4. Henry Garcia 5. Lina Brotonel Calderon

I'll send through the mail an invitation to other batch mates who don';t have access to the internet. Okay folks - it's time to say "talk to you later", and have a good day.

Hi! Imelda & Everyone,

Thanks for your response Ms. Cheryl Burke/Ms Dion.

If ever the encyclopedia are in good conditions, I suggest that just mark them with BWHSClass65 (without my name) as the donor.

Our plan for the reunion in Las Vegas will be 2009, but no definite date yet. I am still soliciting the opinions of our batch mates. If you are planning to travel to the US next year, then we can set the reunion during your visit - just let us know.

I hope my sister could get the contact # of Danilo in Nevada. The last time I spoke with him over the phone, he mentioned that his sister, Nilda, is in Las Vegas. I hope that Danny has a tourist visa that will lapse for more than a month, so we could see each other in Vegas on Sept 7 to 11, 2008. My wife and I will celebrate her birthday on Sept 8, and will have our dietmoon (being a diabetic - bawal ang matamis) for our 36 wedding anniversary on Sept 9 in Las Vegas.

Last night, we (Nardo Piol, Johnny Carolino & I) continued our chikahan at our house. We also watched our DVDs (Grand Reunion). I faced a lot of questions "Tony, sino 'yon?" "O si Roger ba 'yon? ang puti ng buhok, ano?, etc" Ang sagot ko naman, "eh lahat naman tayo ay maraming puting buhok - nagdye lang ang iba." Since we haven't heard from Sonny Mendoza for quite sometime, I took advantage of that opportunity that Johnny was in our house, so I called him in his office in Cagayan de Oro. Luckily, Sonny was around at that time that we were able to talk to him. According to him, he was too busy in the bank because of the merger that took place. I felt sorry when I heard that last May 2008 his wife accidentally fell that caused hip replacement, which was also the reason why he was unable to respond to all our e-mails. Though she is still under rehab and therapy, she is doing fine. Let's join together in prayer for her complete recovey.

Okay folks, I just stole few minutes from my Agency's paid working hours, so 'til my next e-mail.

Hi Everyone,

I have read the speech of Tony Meloto. He is really good and not only with vision but with determination to build our nation great again.

If all batch 65 will join me, we can really help Tony Meloto in fulfilling his dream and vision making our country great again. From what we have started, making batch 65 a moving force to help the young generation of Lemery High School (formerly BWHS) thru financial assistance, we can continue make a difference by creating committees to start livelihood projects like the way Gawad Kalinga is now doing in several communities in various provinces.

I am volunteering myself to be part of these livelihood projects that will create extra jobs and sources of income to our less fortunate kababayans particularly in Batangas. What we really need are support and cooperation of everyone. We will try the concept of cooperatives, better version to ensure success and avoid the usual problem of anomalies and failures. With transparency of all transactions, we will have 99 percent success of the project.

As Tony Meloto had said, we are eagles not too old to fly. We can still do something for our kababayans and at the same time we can also earn for our future when we really can no longer depend from our present sources of income.

Such projects are investment to the following:

1. Planting of seedlings of Cacao producing cocoa or local chocolates. There is now a demand for this chocolates for export.

2. Raising Vegetarian-native chicken which can be allocated in every barangay and we will be responsible for marketing this chicken. There is also a great demand for this better version of native chicken.

3. Handicrafts made of bamboo since our province of Batangas is abundant with Bamboo.

4. We can also promote various Batangas delicacies such, Bagoong Balayan, Atchara from Calaca, Sinaing na Tulingan and many others. We can also establish a convenient store for these delicacies with "lutong bahay" where travellers can have there lunch or merienda along the south expressway.. This can be a hit.

5. Joining our resources and talents will bring to realization of this idea. Of course, most of all are professional with name to protect and we have to believe for a better future. Hindi ko isinama ang word na "CHANGE". I don't like Obama.

PLEASE, can I hear from all of you about this. "Fan talaga ako ni Tony meloto.

Thanks and God bless us all.

Hi! Manoling,

Thanks for your response, and for the bright ideas (you shared to us) that was inspired by the speech of Mr. Meloto. While reading your e-mail, I was impressed by your notions. However, I was bothered by my second thought that your suggested projects are unrealistic for me, and, in my opinion, for BWHWS65 because of the following reasons:

Firstly, I am already on my autumn years to invest on those kind of businesses where the Return on Investment will take years to be realized.

Secondly, my wife & I had already spent our life time savings to the education of our children. The only resources that we could depend upon during our retirement are the pensions that I'm going to receive from the State of Illinois. and from the Social Security in the US and Phils, which, I believe, are sufficient enough to sustain a peaceful and enjoyable life as retirees.

And the last, but not the least, if BWHS65 limited funds will be invested in those projects, it might jeopardize our ongoing projects, which are focused on the health of our less fortunate batch mates, and for the educational benefits of the students of our Alma Mater.

Mr. Meloto's speech was addressed to the Eagles (Ateneans) who, we all knew, are well-off that - even they are already old - they still can fly because they all have the capabilities. But we are not eagles, we are the maliputo of Taal lake that are becoming extinct because of the polluted lake (uncooperativeness of some batch mates). Though there are only handful of maliputo that swims around the lake, they are still being served on the dining tables that make a meal delightsome. Just like the maliputo - we are few, but we have the guts to serve our Alma Mater and our less fortunate batch mates, which I also considered as the fulfullment of Mr.Meloto's dream.

I'm looking for a "Change", but not the same aspiration (flip-flop) as that of Sen. Obama whose campaign slogan "Change" is only for his political advantage. The real change that I am looking for is - the change of heart of some of our batch mates - 'To actively participate and be one of us in all of our endeavors.'

The above is my opinion direct from the State of Illinois.

Regards, and God bless us all.

Hi! Everyone,

I thank our Almighty God and our Lord Jesus Christ for the many blessings that They constantly give us, especially these borrowed life and strength that keep us in touch with everyone.

I also would like to thank all for sparing your precious time to read (I'll assumed that you did) all e-mails and forwarded messages from our dedicated batch mates. For those handful batch mates (domestic & abroad) who continously supplied the needed nutrients (e-mails & forwarded messages) that make 'The Maliputo' healthy, your efforts are very much appreciated.

Please be reminded that the views & opinions contained herein are my own, and does not reflect those of the entire batch65. I brought this out to wake up those who, in spite of the several pleadings and callings that has been made, still remain snoring in their sleep. Indeed, it is really hard to wake up those who are already awake, and pretend that they are asleep.

The Maliputo's Right

It is inherent for all graduates of Batch 1965 to be a member of the "The Maliputo" forever because it was granted by our Alma Mater. No member must be stripped off of their Right in spite of their unsupportive, self-centered or for whatever attitudes or reasons they have shown.

The Maliputo's Previlege

Since the conception, almost three (3) years ago, that was brought about by Imee's ideas to make 'The Maliputo' alive, and through the use of the modern technology (internet), we were able to reach out some batch mates in the Phils. and abroad. Our internet address book started from 2 (Imee & myself) until it grew up to 20 batch mates. However, it has been noticed that only few interacted, and the rest never at all show any interests that they want to be part of the Association. To be a member of the Association is a previlege granted to all of us, so we could share to our less fortunate batch mates and to our Alma Mater the blessings that we have received. The blessings that we could share might be in the form of ideas, opinions, spare time, in kinds and, most all, voluntary monitary contributions. The monitary contributions are not measured by how much, but by the manner it's given - 'from the heart'. The affordable amount, even how small it is, collectively gathered will make the difference.

Though it is a privelege to belong to "The Maliputo", the Association could take it (previlege) away from anyone if he/she shows no interest to be a part of it. It is a harsh decision to deprive anyone of this privelege, but, in my opinion, is the only course of action to be taken. It will only be a waste of time to continue searching for a 'Change' - a change of heart, a change not only in words, but most of all, in deeds. As what is written in the Holy Scripture - the withered branches of the trees must be cut off and burnt because they are no longer productive.

In view of the above, I suggest that we continue to locate and contact those batch mates that had never been reached, and take out from 'The Maliputo' roster those who are considered inactive. So, batch mates, your honest answer to the question "Do you really want to be a part of the Association?" is badly needed. Your silence would mean "you don't want to be", and rest assured that there will no hurt feelings.

This is all that I could express, which is direct from the "Land of Lincoln" State of Illinois.

Regards, and have a good day.

God bless us all.

PS. Pilar, I read Leland's e-mail that you & your husband will stay in Toronto 'til mid September before you proceed to California, so I assumed that you don't have any plans to drop by in our place, Illinois. Anyway, I received an invitation from Lemerians of Chicago for the annual picnic in the Celebration of Lemery Town Fiesta, which will be held on August 16, 2008. One of the organizing committees is your nephew, Boyet de la Luna. Just in case you want to contact him, his tel. # is (847) 463-0031. This year Hermano/Hermano Mayor are Mr & Mrs. Chito Punzalan. Chito is also an aluminus of BWHS.

Dear Imelda & Everyone,

As always, I thank our Almighty God and our Lord Jesus Christ for this beautiful sunny Saturday morning, 07/26/08, and for the bountiful blessings that They showered onto us day by day. I also thank Them for this previlege to communicate with all that enable me to express my personal opinion that, I thought, might help in the fulfillment of "BWHS65's Vision and Mission".

Last Sunday, 07/20/08, I sent an e-mail - RE: BWHS65 'The Maliputo's Right & Previlege', which was prompted by the below e-mail of Imelda. Like her (Imelda), I tried all possible avenues (e-mails, sending postcards, letters, phone & cell.calls & lately DVDs) to reach out all batch mates, but to no avail - still few responded. So, I have no other recourse, but to send that harsh message, and I apologize for that matter. Among other things that I mentioned in that particular e-mail is a question - "Do you really want to be a part of the Association?", as usual only few responded. Thanks all. Please be reminded that in all my e-mail all views and opinion that I expressed were my own, and doesn't reflect those of BWHS65. Also the name "The Maliputo" is an unofficial name. It was only a product of my lllusive mind brought about by the speech of Mr. Tony Meloto addressed to his co-Eagles (co-Ateneans)

In view of the above, and as it is also one of my principles - 'I always don't go beyond my limitation', I am hereby tendering my resignation as Vice-President for Abroad. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone, espcially Estela who nominated me, for the trust that you have bestowed upon me. Rest assured that I am always around to support all of BWHS65 endeavors forever.

Before I conclude this message - I remember our late classmates/batch mates, the husband and wife, Hermie & Francia, who, in spite of their deterioting health, and until their last breathe didn't deny the call of BWHS65. Life is really short - do the best not only for ourself, our family, but also to BWHS65's Vision and Mission.

Thank you all for your attention and for your precious time. Have a good day & a safety weekend.

Sincerely,

Tony Almaria p>

Tony,

I'm so saddened by your e-mail, indicating your resignation as Vice President of our batchmates abroad. To tell you the truth I was very much surprised because I only read all my personal e-mails yesterday since over a week ago after I met Pila here in Toronto. As you know I'm very much pre-occupied with my health condition lately plus I've been busy also in the office with a lot of my officemates on hoildays.

Tony, I symphatized with your position and I know it's not very easy for you to take the non-response from our batchmates - me included. But I don't like to second guess some of our batchmates because they may have reasons for not responding right away. One main reason is what I just told you - people don't check their e-mails regularly. A lot of relatives to whom I sent e-mails to regularly normally have full mailboxes because they don't check them all the time. Other reasons, like too busy at work and their families are also a possibility.

But I agree with you, perhaps some them are not ready for a long time commitment to the cause. Please don't forget that our original intention is to have a successful reunion among our batchmates. The MISSSION & VISION is something that came out of it. There have been suggestions about this project during our last reunion, but only a few of us aborad were there to voice their opinions. So we really cannot accused them of abandoning it. We probably need more discussions ony this project before we mad a decision.

What I would suggest, Tony, if I may, is please hold on you decision for resignation. Let's talk about this more. There is a reunion this year coming up and another one next year. Perhaps, by getting to know more about each other we can build a better relationship. Let's put a hold on whatever big project we have in mind. If we cannot afford a long lasting commitment, then perhaps even a simple donation to our Alma Mater is agood start.

That' all I have to say. 'Till next mail.

By the way, I had an opportunity to see Pilar and her son's family again last week. I invited her to a picnic in the park with our organization, Guimbanian Association of Ontario, of Guimba, Nueva Ecija. A couple of pictures attached.

BWHS65 forever,

Leland

Hi Estee & Manoling,

Thanks both for keeping our lines of communications open that will ensure the success of "BWHS's Vision & Mission". Estee, once again thanks for your text, which informed me that you received your copies of the DVDs. I hope you enjoyed watching one of the great performances of our classmates/batch mates.

As I had stated in my previous e-mail, my irrevocable resignation as an elected officer doesn't mean that I am giving up my membership in the Association. I am still here to render my unselfish committment to our honorable cause. As a member, I pledge to maintain as one of the posts of our building to make erect and strong forever.

Last Sunday, 08/03/08, Nani & Felipe called, and one of the topics that we discussed was about our planned reunion for 2009 in Las Vegas. I told them that we couldn't set the definite date because we should wait if Imelda will attend a convention in the US in 2009. If she does, then we should set the reunion on the date that she will be here in the US. Felipe and I agreed that summer time is not the best time to go to Las Vegas because it's to hot - we might be able to stroll outstide. Also, the problem that I brought out was who will defintely attend. The decision to attend must not be in Words, but it must be in "Words and in Deeds.

Okay, baka na naman ako mahuli ng aming Comptroller na attending to my personal e-mail during office hours. The last time I was in the middle of my message when our Comptroller suddenly appeared in my workstation, which caused me to hit a wrong key (sa halip na save, eh send) so the message was unfinishedly sent. Pinangaralan ko nga siya "You surprised me - you came here just to invite me for a lunch - you have just call me. See what hapapened I untimely sent my message') joke only. God bless us all.

Tony

PS. By the way, I'll be seeing Elsa, who now lives in Las Vegas, during one of my vacation days (Sept 7 to 11, 2008). Last Sunday, 08/03/08 I called Danny who is in Las Vegas, but he was not around.

Dear all,

My brotherly advise is always eat at least three times a week fresh green leafy vegetables like, alukbati, malunggay, camote top, squash, katuray (good for ginisang monggo), sili, ampalaya, etc.just boil them in few seconds without any ingredients, no salt, vetsin, salted fish (patis) with matching unsalted sinaing na isda and you will stay healthy and strong. Regular exercise at least three times a week, sleep early and wake up at 5am (may pasok man o wala). At my present age, I've been doing these and believe me I jog everyday from 4:30am to 6:00am rain or shine. When I was with Shell, every wednesday in the morning I use stairs not elevator from ground floor to 20th floor. You will wonder at my present age of 61 yearsI can still play 4 quarters of basketball and I can run up and down, as quick as I can without holding my breathe. I eat lean meat once a week even chicken. I am more in fruits, fish, vegetables (always without salt). No carbonated drinks, no instant juice pack, but more in water (one gallon a da, minimum), if you can maintain or last to drink normal warm water, cold water is bad to our health especially after meals because cold water will cause intake food to be molded and takes time to digest. Even I go out for shopping or malling, I always bring with me a preferred meals, snacks and water because food outside were all cooked in an oily/fatty ways. I am not ashamed to eat the probinsyano way basta alam ko mas masustansiya ang pagkain ko kaysa kanila. Merinda ko laging organic like nilagang saging na saba, camote, japanese corn, boiled carrots, fresh geen pepper, etc. I eat rice only in the morning, lunch mostly is organic sandwich, boiled potato, etc and a very light organic dinner. that's all folks.

Regards to all,

Hi Everyone,

First of all, I thank our Almighty God for this opportunity to communicate with you again. May He continuously bless us wholesomely.

The first time I stepped foot on the Hotels/Casinos at the City that never sleep - Las Vegas, Nevada was on Jan. 1997. Though I had fun, I also had bad experiences. So, I set a rule that 'What happened in Vegas - stays in Vegas.' From that time on, and whenever I go to Vegas I see to it that I stick to that rule. However, this time I have to break that rule because I want to share with you this very exciting experiences.

As expected, nobody can beat Donald Trump and his colleagues. But unlike yesteryears, I got sick whenever the slot machines swallowed my monies - even if they (slot machines) gave me fun and excitement - last Wednesday, 09/10/08, I didn't regret losing my hard-earned monies (10,000 cents) because I won the heart of our former classmates/batch mates. Elsa, myself and our spouses met Danny at his sister's, Nilda, house in Henderson, NV. We have a wonderful reunion - reminiscing our high school days. Among the topics that we talked about was my suggestion to our Officers and batch mates to make him (Danny) the Editor-in-Chief of our Souvenir Program magazine, which he accepted. My wife and I believed that Elsa did a great job in winning Danny's heart. Please consider my suggestion because I believe Danny is capable to do the job, and being a retiree - he has all the time to attend to it.

Elsa, once again thank you so much for the warm reception and for your thoughtfulness (gifts) that you and your husband have extended to us. My wife and I really appreciate them. Thanks too for always including me in the loop whenever you forwarded those worth reading messages.

Fred, Leland and Felipe, those messages that you kept on forwarding make our Association alive - thanks.

Manoling, I felt sad knowing that you were hospitalized. I pray for your complete recovery.

Batch mates, herewith, please click the attachments, are the pictures that will always remind you of your classmates/batch mates just in case oblivion prevails. I'm sorry it took me so long to send the pictures of Nanie Carnero, Boy Carolino & Nardo Piol. I waited for their hair to grow, but it seems spring time is gone for all of us - we are really in our autumn year.

France, how are you? I hope your place aren't affected by hurricane Ike.

Okay folks - this is all that I could share. Thanks for sparing your time.

Regards, and God bless us all.

My dear "Batchmates 65" and/or classmates,

First, to inform everyone that I had Kidney operation and medical procedures removing the kidneystones and DJ stent last December 3, 2008 but it did not bother me to attend class 65 reunion. "It was not sacrifice but Divine Love for my classmates".

Though, I arrived late (about 10:45 a.m.) at Lemery Regional Pilot School, I was not the last to arrive. Ed and Norie Moredo were the 23rd and 24th of the total attendees. (actual number of batch 65 were 24 plus alalay of 6 including my wife and my apo).

The group was discussing about the provision of setting the by-laws and then registering it to the SEC. I called the attention of our President, Dra. Imelda Morales Martin and suggested that we reject the idea of having this by-laws and SEC registration since it will just create more problems. Marami pa tayong susundin regulations, aside from the voluminous requirement needed in the registration. I also insunuated that we are all not getting any younger and we don't expect to reach 100 years old. To incorporate and register Class 65 to SEC is useless. Instead, we just maintain four (4) reliable and trustworthy officers to handle and that's it.

Then Madam President Imelda continued to request for suggestion in implementing our noble projects and ideas particularly on how to drum-up the attendance since we decided to have another reunion next year, 2009, and of course, another grand reunion on 2010.

Again, I suggest to have our program for the day (bonding and socializing)instead of looking for problems. Seeing it was already 12 noon, we had our lunch prepared by the committee. Ang daming pagkain, Kalderetang baboy, adobong manok, gulay na ampalaya with scramble eggs, sinaing na gulyasan (sa tuyong kamias), nilagang okra at talbos ng kangkong with Fiesta bagoong alamang, at hindi ko na matandaan pa yun iba. Mayroon din leche Flan, bibingkang malagkit, puto puti at Kutsinta. Maraming sitsirya = sitsaron, corniks, buto ng kalabasa at siempre pangtunaw sa kinain = three and one Nescafe.

Saan kinuha ang ginastos para sa pagkain, of course batch or class 65 are always generous. Nagcontribution lahat, mayroon P4,000.00, P2,000.00, P1,000.00 at P500.00. Pasensiya na hindi ako nakacontribute coz being jobless, I also spent so much on my hospitalization (about P100,000.00) and transportation expenses of no less P2,000.00 in attending this reunion, but I brought religious calendar for everyone plus a bottle of champagne and wine holder which was included in the raffle.

Almost all had a share of gift/s thru games and raffles.

Hindi naman talaga whole-day affair but we all shared the joy and camaraderie of everybody present, at least hindi pa tayo ulyanin. Salamat din pala kay Max, who prepared the games. (Eat and run).

Sa mga umattend, I can only remember the following names: Dra. Imelda M. Martin, Mario Rodriguez, Pilar, Waldy, Glo Estacio, Wenona Umali, Marcial Sangalang, Ed & Norie Moredo, Nory Lascano, Pol Lacerna, Ada, Lina Bendana (with husband Nick), Fred, Gerardo Vergara, Bert Biscocho, Lavinia, etc. sorry, hindi ko na maalala yun iba.

Babalik pa ako ng Fairview, Quezon City, so I excuse myself and left the place at almost 3p.m. (arrived home at exactly 7p.m.

That's all folks.

God bless us all.

Naka "short term disability" ako for 12 weeks. Eventually i will just use the cane and then hopefully I'm free.

Hi everyone! Good day...

Just arrived from Batangas after attending the meeting at the residence of Elisa Banaag. I can say that the meeting was great, aside from the food prepared by Elisa, we had a good attendance. The meeting opened with a prayer and Madam President Imelda started discussing our agenda for the day. (masaya na busog pa kami)

Well, as approved by the body, we will have our reunion for this year on December 30, 2009, possibly in the same venue as last year (Lemery Pilot School) or if we will be able to find a better one but less expensive. In the next meeting on April 25, 2009, we may also discuss the grand reunion next year.

By the way, Elisa Banaag is a balikbayan from Italy who had worked there for 16 years. She will be going back to Italy soon and she was reminded of our grand reunion and the size of my shoes which is 7 1/2.

Medyo pagod pa sa biyahe and I will continue my notes in my next e-mail.

God bless us all.

Hi! Eva & Everyone,

Eva, thanks for your call. It's unfortunate that you'll not be able to attend our reunion because of your family's scheduled land tour from May 16 thru 31, 2009. We're looking forward to see you in one of our future reunions.

Batch mates, I would also like to inform you that Carlos Suayan responded to my invitation. Carlos, who lives in Galveston, TX, called me this evening to inform us that he is very sorry he couldn't make it to Vegas, which I fully understood his situation. He was affected by that terrible storm that hit Galveston last year. His three (3) houses were destroyed by the flood, and up to now he is fixing them. I encouraged him to attend our future grand reunions, and God's willing - he will.

Regards, and God bless.

Hi, Everyone,

I'm glad to hear that Leila maybe able to attend the reunion. 'Hope his brother Popo is okay and well. He is the best friend and BWHS classmate of my late elder brother, Tony Jr. For your information, one of Popo's son, Eric, is working in our office (SNC Lavalin) here in Toronto.

My health condition is getting better and better everyday. I have completed my physiotheraphy last week and I'm just continuing with walking exercises everyday in the mall. I still have a little over a month in my short term disability leave of absence.

I'm looking forward to our Las Vegas reunion. The only thing is, because of my eldest brother's big 70th birthday celebration in LA, I may only be able to see you all on Saturday, May 23rd because I have to drive back to LA on Sunday morning, May 24th to be able to attend the evening celebration.

My wife and I will be visiting my brother-in-law in San Francisco on May 19. Then, my brother-in-law promised to drive us to Las Vegas on May 22 (Friday). I'll be free to see you you guys on Saturday while my companions do some gambling in the casinos.

'Hope this fits to our scheduled reunion.

Attached are some fantastic photos. Turn on you speakers and click on the screen to advance the slides.

Hi Leland! We are all excited for our upcoming reunion in Las Vegas. I will attend first the American Psychiatric Association annual convention in San Francisco on 16-21 May before proceeding to Las Vegas. So you will be in SF on May 19. Let us meet each other there. Tony scheduled our meeting on May 24 and you will leave for LA on that date too. Hopefully on 23, those who will attend are in Las Vegas already so we can meet you before you leave.

It's nice to hear that you are recovering well. Take good care of your health; 'aging' na tayo.

It's good Tony was able to contact Leila. When Pilar was there, she tried to contact her several times but in vain. Two years ago when I was in LA, I was able to contact her and she told me she would come to the place where I stayed. Lo and behold, on the day that I was expecting her to come, she called up and said she could not come because she was scheduled to attend a seminar. Sad to hear about her brother's condition. She and Popo are the only ones living; their other two siblings are already dead. I hope she can attend our reunion.

Thank you for all your nice, inspiring emails. Have a nice day! God bless!

Hi! Everyone,

Elsa, thanks. That's what I am also thinking - to move the reunion from Sunday, 05/24/09, to Saturday, 05/23/09, in order to accommodate Leland. I hope our batch mates here in North America, and, of course, Lina and Imelda will agree with our suggestion, and if they do, then let's make it final - Saturday, 05/23/09. Otherwise, please let us know what's in your mind before I disseminate the change to our batch mates who are not in the loop - Leila Venturanza, Nani Carnero, Josefino Villabos & Rudy Pesigan. I'll also send a letter of invitation to Ms. Flor Medina (Spanish teacher) and Mr. Eleseo Alcayde (Vocational and PMT Commandant) who both live in California. I'll also personally invite Mrs Nilda Aro.

Leland, thanks for your response. I knew you'll attend in spite of your physical condition because you did it before - you attended our 2007 grand reunion kahit pipilay-pilay ka. How much more now that you have new hips. But be ready with your number - you'll dance the tango with Imelda. The last time you danced the cha cha, he he, he. Anyway, I'm hoping that you have fully recovered from the surgery (hip replacement).

So long folks, and 'til my next e-mail

Tony

Hi Leland,

Boy Carolino booked us, using his time share, at Flamingo Bay Resort Hotel, which I think is different from Flamingo Hotel. It's a 2 bedrooms suite. Boy called me couple of weeks ago that he is sorry he won't be able to attend our reunion because his goddaughter, who will cellebrate her debut on Sunday, 05/24/09, always request for his presence.

I invilted Nardo Piol who will be accompanied by his eldest son. I also invited France pero sabi niya ay malakas daw siyang maghilig, nakakahiya daw kay Mrs., kaya hindi pa siya umoo sa akin. The hotel can accomodate 8 persons - 2 bedrooms plus the living room that has a sofa bed or a pull-out bed.

I can also pick you up because I'll rent a van at San Diego. I also promised Nardo Piol that I'll pick them up at the airport on Saturday at around 9:30 Am.

By the way, aside from the letter of invitation that I sent to Ato & Rudy Pesigan - I also called him (Ato) this morning. He told me that he won't be able to attend because he and his wife are one of the principal sponsors in a wedding on Saturday, 05/23/09.

Please contact me when you are already in Vegas. I'll be there on Friday, 05/22/09. My cel # is (847) 668-7505.

Let's make this reunion a successful one - even though we are few, and far from our homeland. Let's not allow this economic turmoil hinders the happiness that we'll experience from meeting our batch mates whom we haven't seen for 44 years.

See you soon.

Regards,

Tony

Good Morning! Ray & Everyone,

Ray, thanks for your time to communicate with your classmates Though we haven't heard from you for quite sometimes, we knew you are always with us mentally. It's good that you are enjoying your life, after your retirement from Shell, by keeping busy in your own construction company.

Thanks for offering your technical know how. Who knows one of these day (pag tumama ako sa Lottery) I might be one who might approach you to seek for your professional services in remodelling our small house in Binan, Laguna, but not as expensive as the attachment. Though our house is in the market for almost a year now, because my wife doesn't want to retire in the Phils. I am still hoping that she will change her mind before it (house) is sold. I am trying to convince her that retiring in the US with the small pension that I am going to receive from the State of Illinois and from the Social Security (SS) won't be a comfortable one, especially with this present US economic condition, as compared if we are going to take it (pension) home (Phils).

Ato Pesigan & I are on the same path when it comes to retirement. He told me, when I spoke with him over the phone last week, that he will retire next year, and that he and his wife will spend the rest of their lives in the Phils. They can't afford to retire in the US because his pension from SS won't be sufficient enough to pay the mortgage of their house in Los Angeles. Since they have a fully-paid-off house in Camella Homes at Muntinlupa, his pension will be able to sustain a comfortable life in the Phils.

Hoping that by 2010 BWHS65 grand reunion we'll see each other.

Regards, and take care.

Have a good weekend.

Hi, everybody! Read all your emails but pasensya na kayo can't reply at once due to the bulk of work I have to do after coming from two week holiday. Tambak talaga trabaho, toxic! That's why here I am since the wee hours of the morning, reading and answering the mails since 3:00am.

The good news - I was granted 10 years multiple visa. I do not have to apply again and again everytime I want to attend conventions in USA. Nakakatoxic din magprepare ng mga required papers. I will leave on May 14 bound to SF to attend first the American Psychiatric Convention annual meeting there before proceeding to LA for our reunion.

The bad news - it circulated already; na late na ako. Wenona is already a widow. It's the second 'heart attack' of her husband. Her youngest is still in college. Yes, Wenona is the 'comic' of our class. The meeting is full of laughter when she is there; a very good stress reliever. She has that talent in relating stories which surely make people laugh. When I went to her husband's wake (they are our neighbors in Lemery), she mentioned to me that Mario jokingly told her to relate her funny stories during the wake so that the people who were there staying late at night would not get sleepy. Tony, Ed Umali is included in our loop. I think he is the brother of Weny who died few months ago. I will verify it from her.

I am excited about our reunion and I guess this feeling is shared by those who intend to attend it. Thanks Elsa for being able to contact Miss Medina. I will brush up my Spanish greetings and other commonly used terms. Remember, she is our Spanish teacher which befitted her because of her looks, height and complexion. She might have Spanish descendants; same with Marcelina who is her relative. They are both pretty; mestizillas.

How is your abdomen, Tony? What was the result of the ultrasound? I underwent cholecystectomy (removal of gall bladder) in 1986 in UST Hospital. I had it done while on vacation here when I was still working in Libya. It was removed because of the multiple stones lodged in it. Di pa uso noon ang laparoscopy so my incision was wide. During our meeting, we will exchange info about our lives, except those we wanted to keep in the closet, including our medical histories in order to learn from each other how to take good care of ourselves physically, mentally and spiritually.

About the song Maalaala Mo Kaya, I can sing it for you, folks! Kaya lang if I will be the one na mag-a-ala Charo Santos, I cannot do it simultaneously, narrating and singing at the same time. For me, the best version is that of Dulce's. I will see if I can get the version of the original singer; I will still ask who the original singer of this song is.

Di ako maka book on-line for my flight on May 14. This is the wonder and 'wander' of technology; one needs to be patient waiting for the next step. Next na sana I will pay my booking thru my credit card but for almost an hour last night my daughter repeatedly send the booking but the next step for paying does not want to come out. Today she will do it again, tumaas na naman ang conversion ng peso to dollar and I am paying in peso.... hu, hu, hu! Baka ang mangyari, I will go to my travel agency na lang instead of booking on- line. I will just go back to get the ticket from them.

Happy Birthday, Fred! It's your day today; enjoy and be happy!

Estela, France, Sonny and others on the loop, may we hear from you?

A pleasant good day to all of you! Don't worry, be happy! (Sana nga, but we have cause to be worried because of the swine flu which might reach a pandemic proportion!) Let us pray! It will help us a lot to be worry free and eventually, be happy!

God bless us all!

P.S.: I got this news when I was about to send this. Arthur Boa underwent kidney transplant last week. His nephew is a clerk in the Batangas Regional Hospital and the doctor who is the 'bosing' of Arthur's nephew in the OPD was the one who told me about his operation. Nag-absent daw this nephew dahil siya ang bantay in the Kidney Institute where the transplant was done. Aalamin ko the details about his illness. Let us pray for him, for his early recovery!
